Russian club Krylya Sovetov have signed Nigerian forward Jerry Mbakogu on a season-long loan deal from Serie B side Carpi after a successful medical on Monday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
According to a statement on the Russian club’s official website, the 23-year-old who spent three years with the Italian outfit who got relegated last season could join the Sovetov permanently next summer in a four-year deal worth £2m if he impresses on loan.
“An agreement has been reached between Krylya and Carpi for the loan acquisition of Nigerian Jerry Mbakogu,” Sovetov confirmed on Wednesday.
Mbakogu struggled heavily to replicate his 15-goal season in Serie B from 2014/2015, only managing two goals in 24 Serie A appearances last season.
Mbakogu scored 24 in 85 appearances for Carpi and has starred for Scorzè Peseggia, Padova, Palermo and Juve Stabia.
