SAFA Denies Keshi’s Claims

The South African Football Association (SAFA) has come out in full voice to renounce any reports, speculations and rumours that have suggested that Stephen Keshi has been offered the Bafana Bafana coaching position.

During the course of the last week, Stephen Keshi reportedly resigned as coach of the Nigerian national team after they failed to qualify for the knockout stages, fuelling speculations that the Nigerian mentor was heading to South Africa after he had been quoted that he had received an offer from the South African FA.

Keshi was quoted as saying in an interview with a Nigerian football website, SL10.ng that he had many offers on the table but that Safa had been “very vocal” about their offer.

“There is no iota of truth in this statement. SAFA has not offered any coach the Bafana Bafana coaching job and we don’t take kindly to such rumours,” said SAFA President, Dr Danny Jordaan from Brazil.

“It is not true because SAFA has not entered into a discussion with any coach or a representative of any coach,” added Jordaan.
