SAFA May Announce Keshi As S/Africa Coach July 26

Completesportsnigeria.com can report today that Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi may be named as the new Bafana Bafana of South Africa chief coach on July 26 by the South Africa Football Association who will announce the
new national team coach at a National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting.

Keshi who led the Super Eagles to the 2014 FIFA World Cup in Brazil has been on the shortlist of the South African Football Association to over as the country’s national team coach.

Keshi himself admitted that SAFA have been vocal in their quest to install him as their new man in charge of the team.

And now, SAFA CEO Dennis Mumble disclosed on Tuesday that the search for Gordon Igesund’s successor will be sorted outnext weekend.

“The position of the Senior Men’s National team needs to be ratified by the Safa NEC; therefore, the long-awaited announcement of the new Bafana Bafana coach will be made immediately after the NEC meeting next Saturday,” Mumble said in a statement.

Outgoing coach Gordon Igesund’s was informed last month that his contract would not be renewed after it expires at the end of August.

Former Bafana coach Carlos Queiroz, who took Iran to the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil, was reported to be a hot favourite for the job.

However, reports on Tuesday suggested Queiroz had extended his contract with the Iranian team.

Current South African under-20 and under-23 coach Shakes Mashaba is also in the running for the national team job.
