Warri Wolves striker, Gbolahan Salami, is braced up for the fight to become the leading marksman in the Nigeria Professional Football League this season.
The erstwhile Enyimba forward hit a brace in his side’s 3-0 win against Ifeanyi Ubah on Wednesday.
The two goals increased his tally for the season to nine, two behind the duo of Tunde Adeniji and Bright Ejike who top the scorers chart with 11 goals.
The Super Eagles hitman told completesportsnigeria.com that he is keen to win the honour.
“It will be great to become the highest goalscorer in the league this season and I believe I’m ready for the fight,” Salami told completesportsnigeria.com.
“My objective is to help my club do well this season by scoring more goals than I did last season.
“To achieve that, I must continue working hard and score on a more consistent basis.”
Salami is tied on nine goals with Abia Warriors striker Chisom Chikatara who also scored a brace for the Oriental side in their 2-0 win against Giwa FC on Wednesday.
