By Adeboye Amosu: Home-based Super Eagles coach, Salisu Yusuf, has stated that only the best players will make his final list for the African Nations Championship in Morocco, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Home Eagles who are one of the 16 teams that will compete at the 2018 CHAN, a competition specifically designed for players plying their trade in their country’s domestic leagues, are currently in Abuja preparing for the competition.
Yusuf has extended late invitation to goalkeeper Suraj Ayeleso and left-back Ikoumen Udoh in a bid to get the best of the players in training and add more competitiveness to the team.
He is expected to release a list of 23 players that will play in the competition next week.
The gaffer hinted that only players who prove they are worthy of a place in the team will make it to Morocco.
“We want to have a good outing in Morocco and the best way to achieve that is by picking the best players that can do the job,” Yusuf told Completesportsnigeria. com.
“All the players are doing their best in training and we are happy with the commitment level. It shows they all want to make it to Morocco, but unfortunately, not all of them will make the final list.
“We will do a thorough job and pick those we think are good enough to make the country proud.”
The Eagles will play in Group C at the CHAN 2018 with Rwanda, Libya and Equatorial Guinea.
Their opening game is against Rwanda in Tangier on January 15.
The competition will run from January 13 to February 4.
