Nigerian striker Aaron Samuel made his first appearance for CSKA Moscow in this season's UEFA Champions League in their 1-0 home win against Greek club AEK Athens in their second leg, third qualifying round fixture to go through 3-0 on aggregate on Wednesday.
The win means CSKA Moscow have qualified for the play-off round of the Champions League, just a step away from the group stage.
CSKA Moscow's goal was scored by Bebras Natcho in the 74th minute to send the Russian giants into the next round.
Samuel, who has made just one league appearance for CSKA so far this season, replaced Fedor Chalov in the 69th minute.
In another third qualifying round clash on Wednesday, Czech Republic's Slavia Prague eliminated Bate Borisov despite losing 2-1 away in the second leg.
Slavia Prague went through on the away goals rule after winning the first leg 1-0.
