Nigeria Sand Eagles star player, Abu Azeez, has expressed his delight over Nigeria's hard-earned 3-2 win against Egypt at the 2016 Beach Soccer Africa Cup of Nations on Tuesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
After taking a 2-0 lead thanks to goals from skipper Isiaka Olawale and Ogbonna Emeka, the Egyptians fought back to make it 2-2 before the end of the second period.
But Emeka scored the third goal (his second of the game) f to help the Sand Eagles start their Beach AFCON campaign on a winning note.
In his reaction, Azeez confessed that the game against Egypt was a very difficult one for the Sand Eagles.
"I feel so happy because coming into a tournament and winning your first game is a morale booster for your team," Azeez told Completesportsnigeria.com.
"I am very happy that despite our loss to Switzerland at the Copa Lagos, we could still bounce back and defeated Egypt.
"The Egyptians came out very strong. The last time we met them in Seychelles we defeated them 5-2. So this time aroind, they were ready for us. They came here with the aim of winning but we thank God for this victory."
"We are looking forward to our second game against Cote d'Ivoire and by God's grace, we hope to win again."
