–Danladi stays put at Sharks over non inclusion in CAF squad
By Sab Osuji:
Sharks goalkeeper, Isah Danladi has told city rivals, Dolphins he’s no longer interested in standing between the sticks for them this season.
Isah came close to sealing a switch to Dolphins but while transfer talks between both city rivals, Sharks and Dolphins delayed, CAF closed its registration window for clubs participating in its inter-club competitions this year.
Completesportsnigeria.com understands that Isah who had hoped to ‘sell’ himself in the continental games was irked over the lost opportunity and called off the transfer move.
“We urged him to stay so that if and when we qualify for the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup, we’ll have the chance then to register him but he rejected the idea,” Dolphins manager, Stanley Eguma, confirmed when Completesportsnigeria.com spoke to him on the stalled transfer of the bulky Super Sand Eagles goalie.
Isah himself would also affirm he’s not signing for Dolphins any longer.
“I’ve not signed for any club. Yes, the transfer window is dragging to a close but I remain positive I’ll sign for a club, but certainly not Dolphins,” Danladi told Completesportsnigeria.com.
Heartland, Lobi Stars, Sunshine Stars and Rangers are clubs earlier reported to have shown interest in signing the goalkeeper.
Isah’s teammate at Sharks, Christian Pyagbara has since completed a switch to rivals, Dolphins and made the cut for the CAF Confederation Cup preliminary round first leg trip to Vegetenaro of Equatorial Guinea on Sunday February 15, 2015.
