Sarri Shocked At Newcastle’s 5-Man Defence Against Chelsea

Chelsea boss Maurizio Sarri was left bemused to see Raphael Benitez’s Newcastle United line up a five-man defence in Sunday’s clash at St James Park.

Sarri’s men held off a late fight back to beat the Magpies 2-1 and secure their third with of the campaign.

An own goal from DeAndre Yedlin gave Chelsea the win after Joselu header had cancelled out Eden Hazards strike from the spot.

“I have never seen a Rafa Benitez side play with five defenders. It is very difficult to play here for every team – not only us,” Sarri revealed during his post match interview.

“We were a bit unlucky when they scored to make it 1-1.”

Sarri also praised Eden Hazard who scored his 70th English Premier League goal for Chelsea in the encounter.

Hazard scored from the spot to give Chelsea the lead in the 76th minute.

“Eden (Hazard) has played very well but maybe it was better if he played for only 75-80 minutes, but (Mateo) Kovacic asked me to be replaced so it was not possible,” he said.

  • Sarri will soon come to reality that this the EPL, and sometimes you mount a five-man defence wall. Sarri should sit down and analyse what would have been the results if there was no penalty and an own-goal? It would have ended draw or Newcastle 1-0 Chelsea!!!! Sarri should learn about “parkthebus!” It helps sometimes especially if the opponents are stronger.
