What Is Your Say On The Sacking Of Keshi And Siasia’s U-23 Team Return?

What Is Your Say On The Sacking Of Keshi And Siasia’s U-23 Team Return?

The Nigeria Football Federation have relieved the embattled stop-gap Super Eagles coach Stephen Keshi of the job after Nigeria’s unconvincing run in the 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifiers and appointed a consortium of coaches to be headed by former coach, Shuaibu Amodu, to take charge of the team on interim basis.

This is despite the Eagles’ first victory in the qualification campaign after four games; a 3-1 win over Sudan at the Abuja National Stadium on Wednesday.

The NFF also confirmed the appointment of Samson Siasia as the new coach of the Nigerian U-23 national team.

What is your reaction over the decision of the NFF Executive Committee to sack the embattled Keshi and his assistants and appoint Amodu on an interim basis? What do you think about Siasia’s comeback to the Dream Team (U-23)?

I am very, very happy that Keshi was sacked of handling the senior national team. He added sentiment to his team selections, Mikel Obi should NOT be seen in the national team again.
Keshi lack technical input, the super eagles don’t have any style of play, lack determination.
Siasia is the best option for the under 23 team.

  • Olumide Adeniyi 4 years ago

The decision made by the N.F.F. is quite untimely and absurd. He should have been left to finish off the job he started irrespective of the remaining fixtures. What is the guarantee that Amodu would fair better. Besides he also would be fired himself. My fear is that the players maybe in solidarity with Keshi with the way they showed so much emotion in celebrating with the coach.

    • Ask lovers of football, they all know where d problems are(NFF).
With same people at d helm of affairs,Amoudu, or even d best coach in the world will still fail.Keshi still remain the best hand for the eagles. At least, for now.

  • Unogu E 4 years ago

Sacking of the over proud super eagles coach Steven keshi is the right thing to do. He has overstayed his welcome and need to bow out honourably. He should be replaced with either Sunday Oliseh or foreign coach. For Samson Siasia as under 23 eagles coach, he well deserved it. He is tested and okay. He not that he came in to managed a wobbling and fumbling eagles left by August Egwevour, he would have qualified the eagles to that nation cup and would have done better than Keshi.

Here comes another perfect example of a deluded nigerian, thats why you people are soo backward..

      • SoccerInNigeria 4 years ago

        @Saint Palmer

You need to calm down oh. Letting Keshi go is in Keshi’s best interest. There are many teams out there that will hire Keshi before the end of 2014. Keshi has a lot of football experience, and even though he has performed poorly recently he can still contribute to another team.

Under the current circumstances it did not make sense to allow Keshi to continue as coach of the super eagles. @Saint Palmer this is a common sense decision by the NFF. Join me in wishing good luck to Keshi in his future endeavours.

It is a welcome development, but not the choice of Coach Amodu shiabu,l wiil ve prefer fprmer under 17 coach but let us hope he can deliver/qualified d team for afcon in Morroco.

  • Stephen Keshi has done well in a short space of time coaching our senior national men’s team but, I think he has allowed his successess to overwelmed him to the extent that at the mentioned of the names some of Nigerian players
    irrtates him.
It is not possible to invite all these to the national team set at once but he should have handled these matters matuerly. Iam not happy he has relieved
from the post and I wish well in his next endeavor.

  • We should not make any mistake any longer allowing Amodu to take charge of super Eagle looking at is achievement is nothing to write home about.Giving amodu a chance is like digging everlasting grave. As for Siasia he is tested and ok,we prefer siasia to Amodu.

  • Munnachiso Iwunze 4 years ago

I think Keshi going is better for our football Amoudu is not bad he was not deserving in getting sacked before he qualified the team for the world cup. Stephen Keshi’s ego was begining to hamper career’s instead of bettering them. I am Ezekiel Imoh is supposed to be playing in England now but because he did go to the world cup and accumulate enough caps at international level he was not elligable to play in England, this is an Example of what Keshi leaving out our best talents from the team. Keshi did his part but how long are we going to keep lingering on the Nations cup he won is it for another 19 years . good move NFF Amodu I hope will select our strongest teams going forward. and give the chance to compete with other national squads at our full capacity. God bless Nigeria and god bless Super Eagles.

    • Marsh 4 years ago

@Munnachiso Iwunze, now i see you are related to Ezekiel Imoh and that is why you hate Keshi this much. How can Keshi be responsible for Imoh’s failure to get a contract in England? You are a disgrace for coming to spew nonsense out of your mouth. Imoh is playing in Qatar and that is where he’s agent could secure him contract, i am glad you did not say Keshi collected bribe to play him. Shame on you!

  • What can I say cool and nice that Mr “K” had to go. Under him I see a Nigerian national team that has no pattern of play. Considering that position of all forms of formation this day’s around the world. Nigeria perform poorly because we could not define who were while playing any of those teams.

The only time Nigeria national team had been able to define her pattern of play was at the Nations Cup when Mr K recollect what he was thought at St Finbarrs Akoka in the days of Father Salterry correct me if am wrong with the names.

We need to be sincere Clement the Wof” define Nigerian pattern of play but we failed to emulate him. Am sure, in those days when Nigeria was Nigeria we say to team all around the world this was how we are going to play you and we are going to we.

Don’t blame Mr K for whatever, am sure non of those guys that played at the world cup, nations cup would have have a place in the national team reserve team when
Mr k was playing. the players are not just there anymore, Nigeria only has average player now. for instance, I have this friend in Scotland who ought not to have ever put on that shirt but we are they or my friend that went to America because he wants burger football.

Am sure Mr K will go and learn the Westoff way and come back. He should thank his luck that despite his lack of technical depth the average was able to we the Nations Cup and qualify for the Word cup.

Amodu, I hope he won’t start inviting player that has made up their mind that whenever that they will only come for the money sake or those who want to manage their legs till their 45 year.

Nigeria you need a soccer conference where only the players and the coaches will seat and address the problem. Administrator should ask the former Lagos State Governor some serious question on what he did to Lagos sports in the 1980 when he turned playgrounds to school site forgetting that both goes together. The politician needs to answer questions ” I was home recently and I witness the Oworonsoki Playing ground [via New garage at Bariga, ifako that had already been sold to Globalcom. if not for one of the Ole Santor that acted.

Mr k has his own personal ego while Nigeria design the downfall of Nigerian sports and other sectors.

I know for sure the elephants in Nigerians will rise one day and the so called Ole money bags in Nigeria will have no hiding place for what they have done to what makes Nigeria uniques globally.

  • Amodu is not the answer, him and Keshi are the same. Siasia is better than the two of them, OMG this egunje NFF!

  • ASUQUO AKPAN 4 years ago

For Nff to sack coach Keshi is not untimely, is better they tell us that they have interest in hiring foreign coach. Keshi is a good coach they would have allow him to finish the remaining two games,if he fails we know that Keshi failed to qualify us.

  • ADETUTU SEGUN 4 years ago

Our NFF listen istead of u facing the message, u are facing the messanger. It is easier for u to destroy the messanger than the message. when u destroy the messenger the message will still stand so, stop pretending as if u dnt know that our football is dead already.Amodu is an old wine in a cracked bottle. stop fooling us

  • Samuel 4 years ago

In fact I wonders for this our so called NFF what is the deferent between Keshi and Amodu? Amodu has been sacked from this job almost two times and still call him to handle the team again instead of calling Siasia back, infact this Amodu is not even same at all to accept that kind offer after he has been sacked almost two times though Africa will be Africa we like money too much.

  • If you think siasia is better than Keshi, for 3 years now he have not secure a job, a better coach dont stay long without a job, from my heart Keshi is not a bad coach, he is 10000 times better than Amodu, the problem we had was from the NFF, the problem Keshi had was that he started thinking abt himself, insist of using the team that won the ANC 2013, he was trying to be selfish.Any way he still a good coach, i wish him all the best.

  • Keshi has done well for the country football. if he had listened to fans and football loving nigerians to invite best legs currently playing, he will still be the coach. Amodu is OK for one month. After the Congo and SA games a white coach should be hired if NFF would be able to pay him. We know that NFF has a history of not paying their coaches and will bring several excuses of being broke, etc. Siasia is not the answer. He had his chance and failed woefully. You will start seeing the likes of Issac Promise, Stanley Okoronkwo, etc. Domestic coaches cannot handle the Supper Eagles, simple.

  • Ekpenyong, Godgift 4 years ago

For me, sacking keshi is the best thing NNF have done, he is a good coach that’s right, but his too stubborn, he don’t pay attention to advice.

  • saheed ogunsakin 4 years ago

This is the best decision our football authority has made in recent time. keshi is too full of himself by excluding some players out of the national team.I think the appointment of a foreign coach for super eagles is the perferct decision to make. also appointing siasia as the under 23 team coach is also good because he has been tested and crested in that capacity and he has performed well in that capacity, i think he needs more experience to handle the super eagles in the future. thanks

What a disastrous decision! Nigeria will not go past round 2 of next WC, if we qualify. Experienced and . Africa loving persons like Sepp Blatter President of FIFA advised us against changing coaches that have brought success, claiming they should be replaced by more technical coaches. Africa did that in 2014 and for 1st time ever, had 2 teams in round 2. If a successful coach like Keshi can be sacked with intent to replace with a foreign coach, NFF and the Technical Committee should be sacked and replaced by Germans or Brazilians. What a very poor and rash decision. KESHI IS NIGERIA’S MOST SUCCESSFUL COACH EVER: 1st in 1 Afcon out of 1 attempt, 2nd Round of WC in 1 attempt, 3rd in CHAN in 1 attempt. True, he struggled in new Afcon qualifying. BUT GERMANY, WC WINNERS, ARE 4 OUT OF 4 IN EUROPEAN QUALIFYING. Remember also that Keshi was not given a new contract, despite WC and Afcon record equaling results. The NFF was in confusion since the WC until a few days before Sudan. That affected planning, implementation, morale and created uncertainty. But no, the persons who brought confusion to our football have not blamed themselves but found a culprit in Keshi. God help Nigeria with the administrators and hangers-on masquerading as football commentators. Detractors like Lawal who has not done anything note worthy since he stopped playing, has been brought is in a key role. NIGERIA IS WATCHING ALL OF YOU WHO TOOK THIS UNPATRIOTIC DECISION. You will be judged by your achievements. If Nigeria does not qualify for and win next Afcon, all of you must resign!

  • Toppal 4 years ago

Going from frying pan to fire. That is what I call the appointment of Amodu. They play the same kind of football-heart attack football. The only difference is that Keshi was more dubious with his selection of players to the national team. To say Siasia failed during his time is being narrow minded. Did Siasia start the said nations cup qualifiers? He was brought in after Eguavoen used his incompetence to drop points when he was still the coach. Siasia only came in when the qualifiers was winding up. When some of us make comment we should be willing to make balanced comment.

A coach who see no good in players playing in USA, Spain, Greece, Belgium, and even England but goes to China to select players and even bench warmers from the Nigerian dometic league for the super eagles is the coach you want us believe is objective? Can you tell me the discernible pattern that Keshi played against Sudan yesterday? Or when did we descend so low in football to be dragging points with Sudan and Congo

  • G Eze 4 years ago

Keshi have done well for super eagles and for himself, but he should have left this after the world cup. Bringing Amodu in is taking us backward, nff should appoint another coach probably a foreigner.

  • Now that he is gone the NFF will have no excuse not win all our matches from now. they can invite their Uche and ihenacho now to come and win the world cup for us.

  • papafem 4 years ago

In my humble opinion, NFF did well by showing Keshi the exit door; his high-handedness and know-all attitude were becoming nauseating. However, replacing him with Amodu is totally unacceptable. Keshi is even better than Amodu in many respect, just that the former had to go for some sanity to return to the system. Amodu’s antecedent shows that his team generally play very dull football. He doesn’t have the charisma to instil discipline into his team, and most times, he buckles under the weight of the over-bearing nature of the cabal his method of management usually throws up. Thank God he will be there for just two matches. NFF should not make the mistake of making his appointment permanent, even if he gave us the qualification ticket.

  • Saint Palmer 4 years ago

Soo this NFF can sack a coach ?..in an enviroment like Nigeria where majority of the people prefer reasoning with their toes instead of their heads its very difficult seeing good things emanating from there, did u know why Nigeria is soo backward..?..search your mind..

  • Sia 1,is d best bcoz he knows what we guys lover want from home.Amodu is yawa no point at all.

  • Eshin 4 years ago

Too bad Keshi lost his precious job! Good riddance! Amodu, Siasia or whoever are all no good as long as they were home grown. When it comes to coaching/football, all of these guys know what to do; it is the corruption of our system that is the problem. Nothing is objective, it is all about how much anybody can make before he gets fired knowing that getting fired is inevitable.

A good foreign coach with no bias at all should be the best option for now if he can be paid and given the logistical support that he needs to get the best possible boys available to play good football for Nigeria.

  • Remico 4 years ago

Am not happy the way NFF sack keshi, the only indigenous coach that put smile on our face and win 2013 AFCON trophy with super eagle of Nigeria since 1994. Let me tell you, Amodu has noting to offer, how many times he coach super eagle but no good result. Why we forgotten good things easy, ok let see Amodu and his miracle. Bye

  • Ajero Chigbo 4 years ago

Keshi has done well but it is expected that he will be sacked because of the bad results his team produced recently. The problem with our national teams is that the commendable midfield interplay notable in world class teams is lacking. The element of surprise is gone. Siasia has been tried and he lack the potential to produce the type of team that can overwhelm teams with sound midfield game. His KICK and HEAD pattern is worst than what Keshi played in Sudan and against Iran. Please look for another person. For Eagles, please remove Amodu pls before he reintroduce old and tired legs pls.

  • kastro 4 years ago

The man Keshi can always raise his shoulders high as an achiever. He will come back some day. He was thinning out his selection options but & refused to change. It’s a sad end…the game at Khartoum been the worst of the last run of 11 poor matches. But who is Shuaibu Amodu? That is a typical Nigerian joke.

  • Stanslink 4 years ago

This sack was long overdue, because we never hired a coach in the first place. The Super Eagles is not a team to be coached by political elements. Just like we never had football administrators, that is why Keshi was retained after tendering his resignation before a (far away) foreign media, (twice, not once).

How many times has he contradicted himself from talking too much to the media, then turns around to blame the same media of continuously misquoting him?

We will qualify by the grace of God, but weather or not we qualify, the sacking of Keshi is an “end of year gift” to football loving Nigerians. Infact, the qualification will become a bonus. Kudos NFF.

  • Olugbenga Sulaiman 4 years ago

Sacking of Keshi is long over due, a coach felt he knows all never take advice from others and attached sentiment to the job. All over the world players are selected to national team on performance at there club side no matter the differences between the coach and the player result is what matters. thanks

  • Keshi has tried his best, however, it was obvious he lacks the capacity and knowledge to move the team forward. In my opinion, I think Okpala was the brain behind his success at the Nation cup. Ever since OKpala was sacked, his winning formula died a natural death. You are as good as your last results. The last 10games before 15th of October shows that he only won a match out of 10games. Therefore there was no singular reason to retain Keshi.

His selection processes are evidence of biasness and favoritism. Majority of the so called fighters he took to the world cup, even himself could not invite them for nation cup qualifiers (the likes of Ameobi, Gabriel Reuben, Michael Uchebo, Uche Nwofor). What team is he building around old men like Ameobi? when the likes of iheanacho should have been there to start building his experience and confidence. Does he expect Agbim to replace Enyeama when we have young keeper like Alampasu. The unforgiven nature of the coach, the preference for bench warmers, choice of words, lack of listening ears are all evidences to show that we don’t need someone like this.

In my Honest opinion, I think the choice of Amodu is the worst decision. They should have given that task to Sunday Oliseh, If he can win those two matches, then you can consider him for a 2-4years contract. The problem in this country is that we celebrate mediocres. NFF said on paper Oliseh was the best Coach but lack experience. Which experience do they have to come and be managing our football? You see! Someone like Oliseh with sound football knowledge should be given chance and fully support and guide him. One with sound knowledge and understanding will dust someone with 10years of rubbish experience in just two years of learning on the job. Today most companies ask for 6-10 years of experience and lots of applicants complain about this. This same people now are asking for experience from Oliseh. The is always a beginning. Guardiola didn’t have any vital experience and he handled Barcelona.
Keshi said iheanacho do not have experience, people complained, here you are still asking the same experience from Oliseh. I really don’t get it.?

For us to move forward, we really need to support champions and not mediocre. We need to drop tribal sentiments and approve people based on performance.

  • Stanslink 4 years ago

Keshi was very undisciplined during his playing day, He was also undisciplined (not just to Nigeria) during his coaching days, and he will remain undisciplined afterwards. When has he had cordial relationship with his employers? Probably in his playing days with New Nigeria Bank.

Nigerians Deserve the Leadership we get…….We as a people are short-sighted, Shallow, Ignorant and misinformed…..

For those who Know and Follow footballl from the 1980s to the present day will not only Appreciate Stephen O. Keshi but will appreciate his contribution to the National Team and Her progress….

The Nickname Big Boss was accorded him by his teammates since he became captain, He singlehanded ensured that Nigerian was not shamed on several occasion when the NFA then just as now was not capable of managing the national team…..

It took Clemens Westerhof Four Years to win the Nations Cup and take Nigerian to the second round of the world cup, Keshi did it in three.

Before Keshi, there was this “too big” attitude from players and what did he do? How has the local players been represented? When Nigerians begin to look at Uche Kalu and the Same Obafemi Martins and Taiye Taiwo as some of the names that Keshi is ignoring because of Pride……I ask who is Uche, what did he do in the Nations Cup?

Was Keshi Sacked? the NFF Beg him to Temporarily manage the Eagles pending when contract issues will be resolved after he resigned at the end of the World cup…..

Keshi is a National Hero, Change is a process and Keshi had us on the path to the redevelopment of the National Team and players both locally and internationally….Change takes time, when the right step and people are in place….Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger are examples…..Now we seek a Foreign Coach do to what really? Give the NFF opportunity to loot…..All over the world, Local Coach are beginning to make the needed impact in their national teams……16teams to the Nations Cup which Coach won it? 32 Teams to the Worldcup, which Coach won it?

We deserve the Leaders we have and the failure of the Nigerian State is exactly what we as a people unfortunately deserve…

  • elewure 4 years ago

Iam happy that Keshi has been releaved of his job. Nigeria won the last nation’s cup only on luck ground. The sack is long over due. We play to zero pattern,he refused to invite our better legs to the team. He should take the sack in good faith with thanks, siasia signed a five year’s contract to rebuild the team but got sacked at ten months. so, for handling the team for over three years,he should be thankful. For Siasia,he would have been the best to take over from keshi, but since it was given on a two month-interim basis, the under 23 dream team is better for him. There are many Nigerian born european players who are still eligible to play for us, i wish he invite them and there after serve as stepping stone for them to play for the eagles latfr. better luck to them all. keshi, interim coaches and SIA ONE

Honestly speaking i had never see anything wrong with keshi, can people see what is happening to big coashes? did people see what happened to world cup champion? spain, Spain was champion of world cup and European cup, still see what happened to them in brazil, Rome was not buit in a day, at least Keshi produced result in his first time of handling the team, he won cup of nations, took super eagles to second round in Brazil, had a draw with the world club champion in respect of Bacelona even in their stadium, let us know how to give someone second chance in Nigeria, people are talking about Westerhoff, did he performed more than Keshi? no. look, i believe NFF didnt got bribe from keshi that is why they want him out, now they have got what they wanted we will see what follows, i am not a fan of keshi but i believe in second chance and all these ex footballers are just jealous of Keshi nothing more, what did Lawal know about football, didnt we saw him in the field of play during his time, he was in super eagles then just because of sentimental, now he has got position in NFF we will see what he will brought there. Ikpeba, what did he brought to super eagle during his time, he doesnt know his onion, he doesnt know his right on the field, didnt he responsible for lost of Nigeria to cameroun in the final between Nigeria and cameroun in 2000, had people forgotten so quickly and he opened his mouth to condemm a successful man both as player and coach. we will see where jealous will tyake us to, let us here from successful and real player like Okocha, Odegbami, kanu, Babangida, Finidi George, Henry inwosu, Okalas, Adepoju, west and others i cannot mentioned not those who cannot even score penalty.

Well Keshi has done his best because no man can do more than his best. I personally prefers Samson Siasia to co
continue from where Keshi the big boss stopped. In the issue of Samson he was formerly betrayed which many Nigerian knew therefore lets allow Samson to finish the good job he started with the team.

Lets not forget most of the players on Super Eagles field today were discovered and groomed by Samson Siasia. Therefore lets allow the young man to finish his job

For me,I like want NFF did,he didn’t work to satisfy Nigeria, the man was sentimental by inviting the player he want, why not invite those who ‘re informed and play regular in there various club. As far as I concern they ‘re not play like a family, they must be unit and look there self like one family, they should try n put somebody that can deliver,God bless Nigeria.

I can perceive politics. Keshi should have been corrected instead of being sacked. He committed error by saying Iheanacho is too young to play in the senior team but he forgot that Pele started playing for national team at the age of 17 years. He also too Honour in featuring Mikel Obi in all the matches but his sacking was more of politics than normal!

  • chuks 4 years ago

This is the most unreasonable, unjustifiable, stupid and irresponsible decision to have ever taken by NFF. I know Amaju was trying to impress Maigari and others who supported him in his election and besides, he has always been a hater of keshi. Am not surprised. This shows you the level of people managing our football. Maigari has been a problem since nations cup and irrespective of that Nigeria won the cup. He went ahead to sack Keshi’s assistants after the nations cup – a plot to sabotage him and it worked. He owed him up to six months salary. Keshi had to employ one his assistants and paid him from his unpaid salaries. The rot in NFF is much and is responsible for super eagles dwindling performance.
All NFF members need to chased out. ALL need to be sacked and not keshi.

  • Sacking keshi is the most best option in fact I don’t know what to say about this man self! Ok all is well.
