New Super Eagles invitee, Semi Ajayi, is thrilled with his maiden call-up to the team for next month’s 2019 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying match against Seychelles in Victoria, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
Semi, 24, who plays for English Championship club, Rotherham United is one of the new boys invited by Super Eagles coach, Gernot Rohr who unveiled his 24-man squad for the crucial clash on Friday in Lagos.
The other two are Jamilu Collins who plays for German second division side, SC Paderbon and FC Porto midfielder, Kelechi Iheanacho.
“Always dreamt of representing my country at senior level. Honoured to receive my first call up for the Super Eagles today. Thank you God #SuperEagles #NationalTeam #GIG ,” Ajayi tweeted on his Twitter handle Friday.
Semi who is also eligible to represent England has been capped at the U-20 level by Nigeria.
The defender made three appearances for the Flying Eagles in an invitational competition tagged, Toulon Tournament in 2013.
He had stint with Arsenal between 2013 to 2015 before joining Cardiff City.
