Serbia Star Obradovic: Super Eagles Stronger Than Morocco, But We’re Ready For Them

By Adeboye Amosu:

Serbia defender Ivan Obradovic says the side have now shifted attention to Tuesday’s friendly clash against three-time African champions Nigeria following Friday’s 2-1 defeat to Morocco, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

Obradovic, 29, who plays for Belgian club Anderlecht, also rates the Super Eagles a better opponent than the Moroccans.

“I saw the quality Nigeria have in their friendly game against Argentina in November which they won. They are physically strong with a lot of talented players and it will not be easy,” Obradovic told the Serbia Football Federation official website.

“But surely this will be another good check, an opportunity to see at what level we are and of course work on some things.

“I do not have a dilemma that these two games were the right choice.”

Hakim Ziyech and Khalid Boutaib were on target for Herve Renard’s men, while Southampton’s Dusan Tadic scored Serbia’s only goal of the game played at the Stadio Olimpico Grande Torino, Turin, Italy.

The left-back also took time to reflect on their last game.

“I think it was good, a couple of mistakes, but it’s all normal, we changed the system and quite different composition compared to the games we played in November,” he added.

“We’ll do the analysis and I’m sure we’ll prepare even better for Nigeria.

“And that match showed what awaits us at the World Cup. It is well known that there are no light opponents in football today, and Morocco showed us that they are a well organised team.

“In the qualifiers, they were the first in their group, they did not even concede a goal, so that was a good indicator of what is waiting for us at the World Cup, that certainly there will be surprises.”

Tuesday’s game which will hold at the Hive, Barnet FC Stadium will kick off of 8pm Nigerian time.

If Serbia play like they did against Morocco against Nigeria, Eagles should score them at least 5 to 7 goals. Good news, Enyeama is back. Even, He kept a clean sheet. Hope coach Rohr is watching? The coach need to try both Ajayi and the Chan striker for Serbia match. I think he Mr. Rohr desided not to call on Onuachi, Dessers, Martins, Adi and Ike Uche. I know for sure the coach have no choice but to invite one of these strikers. Still early though, we still have up to 4 friendly matches awaiting us. We can keep playing like this while we have good strikers out there waiting for a call from the coach. I don’t know what Agu is doing with the team. Osemeh should also need a chance to prove his worth. God bless Nigeria!!!

Hopefully, Coach Rohr will get everything right. I’m not one of the internet coaches but if given a chance, I’m ready to be coach Rohr’s assistant coach. If they give me a chance, I will prefer Nwakeli junior to Agu. The former under17 captain is what is missing in the team. Eagles need a play maker. However, I wish the coach and his team the best. God bless Nigeria!!!

  • personally iam happy about what the super eagles are doing, its both for us(Nigerians) and their respective careers, watching them so far, starting from their first game against Zambia it has been great, the best game they played so far was against Cameroon,i true we win the polish team but t was not a too good display from the team, the mid field lack cohesion, the bond was not there,so it make the strikers lack ball through the game, but defence having a solid rock of defence saves us,conclusively,i thank Rhor for the work ha has been doing so far, starting from that Tanzania game to the game against Poland #soarsupereagles

  • @CJ ARE YOU PAID TO ADVERTISE FERNANDO ADI?????

  • Cj Adi can not do that in the premier league look at how those goal keepers and defenders are useless.. Ighalo is better than him

  • I have made predictions since before our last WQ match against Algeria, the match which Mikel didn’t feature. I said the much progress the Team has made since the German coach took over, will be showcased against Argentina. Even though we were able to secure victory against Poland without our talisman. The strength and fluidity, the holdup play and transition from midfield to attack was lacking. The overall performance of the team is far from convincing, Stringing good passes and holding possession during the match against Poland is not anywhere close to our second hand performance against Argentina. Butt for the very first time, the SE has recorder a victory against a high profile oppornents which to say in football it’s the result that matters not how good you play, this to me is a good morale booster going into Tuesday friendly against Serbia. The friendlies lined up for the SE, the game against DR maybe the result or outcome of that encounter may shock many for a reason. The Team plays better on a good pitch. Here are few areas that the coatching crew should build up on. Set pieces and our two CB are not so fast. So in the match against Poland there was a period when the captain missed timed his tackle but the young player that came in inplace of the left back did a yo man’s job by playing the sweeper to kill of that counter attack.
Playing England in our last friendly game will give us to some extent how well the SE will fare at the mundial.
Our first game against Croasia is the most important game of games.
Lastly, if the SE gets a good start the two teams that will make Africa proud are Morocco and Nigeria. This entails having our most important player in our squad doesn’t sustain injury before the tournament kicks off.

  • Remember Brght Dike? He was made in America.
American MLS is not among the best leagues in the world.
But their players are always fearless and bullish.
They don’t respect anybody, they have this swag about them that gets result for them.
I just see another Bright Dike in Fernando Adi.
    A trial will not hurt.
Let’s give him a chance to break into the team or breakout.

  • Sorry that is Fenando Adi now Portland Timbers. 2017/2018

    https://youtu.be/gSlQuyzpJk8
Bright Dike former Portland Timbers in 2014
    Compare.

  • One match only Bright Dike was in.
But for injury he would have been SE main striker in Brazil 2014

That’s why am clamouring for a chance for Fernando Adi to stake a claim for #9 position in the SE.

  • Ajayi M.O. 8 months ago

Lets give Adi a chance once

  • nigeria isn’t better than morocco and morocco is in good form right now they dominate possession and they showcased both good attack and a greater defence in the world cup african qualifies, they conceeded 0 goals in all competition games in a very tough groupe to think nigeria is better than them is an understimatments, in fact the only goal morocco conceded in their last 8 games they conceeded 1 wich was against serbia, of all african and asian teams morococ will be feared most after they qualify with spain to the knockouts rounds and the fact that even fifa itself ranked morocco the least luckiest team to win world of all teams in the copetition this year is gonna backfire and will work for morocco than against them.. egypt has only sallah in their side and struggled to qualify for this world cup .wait
