Shorunmu: AFCON Ticket Not Lost Yet

–Eagles assistant coach says South Africa will fall
By Bamidele Boluwaji:

Shorunmu said the coaching crew will ensured that the Bafana Bafana are not underrated in the encounter, saying they are well determined to win the away match despite the Saturday’s result.

“We have spoken to the players and they have been psyched about the match and I am sure that they are not going to underrate the South Africans, we know that they are not threats to us but we are not going to see them that way. Yes, we have beaten them before but we are going to put that behind us and make sure we win this match.

Super Eagles assistant coach Ike Shorunmu has declared that the ticket to feature at the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Morocco is not lost yet despite the team’s inability to beat the Red Devils of Congo in Saturday’s qualifier in Calabar.

Shorunmu who spoke to Complete Sports before the team jet out to Cape Town on Sunday for Wednesday’s clash with the Bafana Bafana of South Africa said it was unfortunate that Nigeria lost the match but promised that they will do everything humanly possible to redeem the country’s image in the qualifier.

He said both the players and the coaches have learnt lots of lessons from the match and they will ensure they correct all the mistakes before tomorrow’s game in Cape Town.

“It was unfortunate that we lost that match but I want you to know that we have not lost the ticket to feature at the AFCON next year in Morocco, we have learnt from it and we are going to make sure that we correct our mistakes and return to the track for the ticket”, says the goalkeepers trainer.

So,shorunmi is indirectly telling us the team underrated the Congolese! Pity. That was very unprofessional. And talking about Shorunmi,I think Peter Rufai will be a better goalkeeper trainer for the team.

Do we (Nigeria) have a technical crew? If we do, what is their job? Is it not to understudy our opponents, know how thay play, their formations, know their strength n weaknesses bring these informations to the team, and with the benefit of these information the team will come up with a stratagy to out play n win the opposition but unfortunately we always take our matches for granted beleiving we can always stroll to win every match, u always hear our coach saying he doesnt know anything abt the team he wants to play, my question is if he doesnt know abt his opponnents then whats he doing there?
