Siasia: Eagles Must Beat Congo

–Says home Eagles are getting better

National U-23 Eagles handler, Samson Siasia has expressed happiness over the performance of the Home Eagles against Ghana in last Friday‘s International friendly match played in Uyo International stadium, saying beating the visitors showed that Nigerian League is getting better and the players are proving that with the players we have here, Nigeria can improve.

“Well, I want to believe that beating Ghana was not easy and we need to commend the boys for the effort. I strongly believe that Nigerian League players are of good quality if we are well organized and with the result against Ghana, I think we can get off from there and make sure we invest more in the league so that the players can get better,” Siasia states.

Siasia however said the team should not be carried away with the result against Ghana, saying beating Congo in Saturday’s 2015 African Cup of Nations is more important and the players should ensure they win the away match,” says Siasia

“This is a very important match to us if we must qualify for the African Cup of Nations and we must handle it with all seriousness to ensure we win.

It would be recalled that Nigeria did not start the qualifiers on a good note and that has made qualification for the African showpiece a bit difficult for the Super Eagles as South Africa and Congo are taking the lead in Group A.

The Super Eagles will resume camping in Warri, Delta state today and train there for few days before travelling to Congo for the must win away match.

Siasia is right. The discovery of players like Eduok Iheanacho and Sokari testifies to his observation. I expect to see between 6 and 10 home based in his under 23 team for the qualifier and the olympic proper if qualified

Honestly, I saw lots of future stars in that team. One hope they wouldn’t disappear into oblivion. They kind of remind me of Enyimba 2001-2004 team that produced the likes of Enyeama and co. I am excited about Emem Eduak, Mfon Udoh, Kingsley Sokari, Gbolahan Salami, Christian Osaguona, Solomon Kwambe, Umar Zango, Rabiu Ali. Agbim is a Chai…there is goalo.
