Siasia Happy With Eagles Win

–Eguavoen commends Mikel Obi

After watching the Super Eagles of Nigeria beating Sudan in a 2015 AFCON qualifier yesterday, ex- internationals Samson Siasia and Austin Eguavonen have both commended the effort of the players.

The defending champions yesterday defeated the Sudanese 3-1 to bring back hope that Nigeria could still make to the 2015 African Cup of Nations in Morocco despite their poor start to the campaign.

Speaking on AIT yesterday as guest analyst, former Super Eagles Coach, Samson Siasia commended the character the team exhibited in the game and declared that the victory will in a way give Nigerian hopes that all is not lost yet.

“They played like they knew what they wanted, and they went for it. Determination was really what they exhibited and they got the result,” Siasia said.

I feel really happy and I must say that at least we now have four points. The victory will go a long way in helping the team because I am sure it will make their heart stronger for the remaining games ahead, and more importantly, it will ease Nigerians the pressure that engulfed them before the game.

Also speaking on same programme after the Super Eagles 3-1 victory, Coach Austin Eguavoen commended Mikel Obi for his contribution in the victory.

“If I don’t see anything to talk about in the game, at least I must commend Mikel for the job well done. Seriously, the Chelsea star played a pivotal role in the game and that was actually what is expected of a midfielder that shoulders the responsibility of a team.”

Following the victory, Nigeria now sit on third position in the Group-A log behind South Africa and Congo respectively with 4points, leaving Sudan on fourth position with three point.
