Nigeria U-23s coach Samson Siasia has expressed his joy following the release of his mother Mrs Ogere Siasia, who was kidnapped two weeks ago.
The release of Siasia’s mother was confirmed by the family and the police on Saturday.
According to thenff.com, an elated Siasia thanked everyone who showed support, promising to qualify Nigeria for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games.
“Words can’t express how I feel, all I want to say here is thank you to all Nigerians especially the NFF who stood by me amd my family in our trying times. It has not been easy but by His grace we have overcome,” Siasia said.
“For me all I can say now is, based on the support shown me and my family, all I can do to repay Nigerians is to go out there and pick an Olympic ticket for the country.”
When asked whether any ransom was paid, Siasia said he is not in the know, but as long as his mother is back home, his joy has no limit.
The U-23 Eagles will kick off their campaign at the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations against Mali in Mbour on Sunday.
The other two teams in their group are Egypt and Algeria.
