Chief Coach of the National U-23 team, Samson Siasia has said there will not be preferencial treatment for players of the the senior National team, the Super Eagles insisting all players must fight for places in the new Dream team he is putting together.
Speaking soon after training in Abuja yesterday, Siasia stated that he will give new players chance to make the team rather than relying on established players that have already made their names.
‘We want fresh players, the ones that have made their name will give way for others to prove how good they are.If they are not good enough and we have to go out and look for the Super Eagles players then we will do it.
“But for now, we want to stick with new players. And if we have to invite any of the Super Eagles players he must come out here to fight for a jersey because there is no automatic shirt for anybody. All coaches know the kind of players they want, for example Eduok could be a star with the Eagles if he does not play the way I want him to play, I will not take him.
‘By next week the foreign-based professionals will begin to come. They have been calling, almost about hundred of them. And if they really want to come, they an pay their way here and we will see them. The only thing we can do for now is to put them somewhere conducive because of where they are coming from. We will look at them for about a week and the ones that we think are good enough to be selected we shall keep,”he stated.
