Samson Siasia has told Completesportsnigeria.com that he is yet to fully recover fully from the Super Eagles' failure to qualify for the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations following their 1-0 defeat to Egypt in Alexandria.
Super Eagles caretaker coach has however called for early preparations for the Russia 2018 World Cup qualifiers, which start in October.
“I thought the players would understand the need not to make any mistakes with the efforts we put into preparation for the home game," Siasia saod. "Unfortunately, they could not maintain the lead that would have given us the victory in Kaduna.
“Like every other Nigerian that is thinking about the matches, I am yet to recover from the games because we put in so much and we expected to yield positive results."
Siasia who also believes that the future is bright for the Super Eagles despite not qualifying for the 2017 AFCON advises that preparations must start on time for the World Cup qualifiers.
“We have to look into the future now after the AFCON wahala and we should be thinking of how to prepare well for the World Cup qualifiers which will soon start and that is the only thing that can help us as a nation."
