Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia has told completesportsnigeria.com that the current Flying Eagles must have self confidence to beat Brazil in their first game of the 2015 FIFA U-20 World Cup holding in New Zealand.
The Coach Garba Manu-led team will file out against Brazil on Monday morning and Siasia, who reached the final of the 2005 edition in Holland before losing 2-1 to Argentina, believes the Nigerian boys can win the match only if they believe in themselves.
“People talk about Brazil, fine, they deserve respect just like the Flying Eagles players also deserve respect but in football, a game that has not been played is very difficult to predict. We have quality players that can go all the way to play in the final of this tournament but they need to believe that they can do it,” Siasia said.
“All the teams in New Zealand have equal opportunity to win the trophy but the one that is most determined and play to the standard will eventually win the trophy, so it will be wrong to begin to think that Nigeria cannot beat Brazil."
Siasia who is also preparing for the 2015 All Africa Games in Congo however tipped the Flying Eagles to qualify from the group.
Nigeria will also play Hungary and North Korea in the preliminary stage of the tournament that got underway on Saturday in New Zealand.
