–Ex-Eagles coach makes case for former Eaglets star
Former Super Eagles coach, Samson Siasia has urged Nigeria’s kid sensation, Kelechi Iheanacho to reject the proposed plan by Manchester City FC to loan him to New York City FC in the Major Soccer League, MLS.
Siasia told Complete Sports in Abuja yesterday that the most valuable player, MVP, of the 2013 FIFA Under-17 world cup in Dubai would be better off playing in Europe than America, adding that he has done so well to remain in the English Premier League.
“I don’t think it is right for Manchester City to send the young man on loan to MLS, the best they should do for him now is to loan him to an English Premier League side where they will be able to monitor his progress.
“Iheanacho has done well in the pre season tour and if not that Manchester City is star studded, he should be vying for a place in the squad.
“The boy has played against some of the big boys of football and showed that he has what it takes to compete with the best. He should be given the opportunity to grow”, Siasia posited.
He said Iheanacho should be loaned to an EPL side or any of the top European leagues where he can play regularly and develop his game, stressing that in MLS he would grow but not as rapid as in Europe.
The former Super Eagles striker however advised that Iheanacho should put aside money for now and try to improve on his career before thinking of making money.
“He should focus on how best to improve his game for now. Money will come if he works hard and money will flow,” he stated.
