National U-23 Eagles coach Samson Siasia has told Complete Sports that his team will be in good shape when they take on Gabon in a 2015 All Africa Games qualifier scheduled to hold on February 22 in Abuja, having spent some weeks in camp preparing the players for the task ahead.
The former Super Eagles coach who recently led the National U-23 Eagles to beat Tunisian side in one of the two international friendly games played in Tunis said he is looking forward to qualifying Nigeria for both the Olympic Games and the All Africa Games.
“We are doing our best to prepare for the tasks ahead and having spent some quality weeks in camp, I expect the players to give their very best, Gabon is not going to be easy because everybody wants to qualify and the only way we can get there i9s to give our best”, begins the former Nantes FC of France striker.
“The two friendly matches played against Tunisia and the team’s participation in the Super Six tournament held here in Abuja will go long way in helping us to be in good shape as well. Though, we are still working on the team because the whole thing is work in progress and we are hoping it will give us positive result.
Siasia also told Complete Sports that he will ensure that his boys did not underrate the Gabonese in the match, while calling on Nigerians to have fate in the team.
“We can only assure Nigerians that the players are going to be focused and they will not underrate Gabon in the match but they also need to have fate and believe in the team. We need the support of everybody to excel in this assignment,” he says.
