Nigeria winger Moses Simon is disappointed to miss out on a place in the country’s squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia after picking up an injury in training and has vowed ti be back stronger from the setback, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
Simon, 22, was expected to be in the Super Eagles final 23-man squad for the competition but his absence was confirmed by coach Gernot Rohr on Friday following a scan in London to ascertain the severity of the injury.
The Gent of Belgium star missed Monday’s friendly fixture against Democratic Republic of Congo in Port Harcourt but was hoping to be passed fit to take part in the World Cup.
But his hope was dashed after Rohr revealed during his pre-match conference ahead of the side’s friendly a game against England that Simon will be out for three to four weeks.
The AKA Gent winger played a key role for the Super Eagles during the qualifiers and had been expected to compete with Alex Iwobi and Ahmed Musa for a spot on the left side of Nigeria’s attack.
“I will like to thank all my fans for the love, support and prayers during this trying time, you all are amazing people it’s just a pity that I couldn’t make it to #Russia but man proposes but God disposes. I will definitely be back soon stronger and better.

He has won won 20 caps with Nigeria and scored four times.
