Sodje Hopeful Eagles Will Still Qualify For AFCON 2015

Sodje Hopeful Eagles Will Still Qualify For AFCON 2015

By Izuchukwu Okosi:

Former Super Eagles defender Sam Sodje is clearly not happy with the performance of Nigeria in Wednesday night’s 2015 African Cup of Nations qualifier against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa which ended on a drab goalless draw.

Stephen Keshi’s team managed to unbeaten record against South Africa in competitive football matches but that has not clearly helped their chances of qualifying for the 2015 AFCON finals in Morocco where they are expected to defend their title.

“That’s not a good one (draw against South Africa). We make things hard for ourselves.

“We have made life so hard for ourselves. but I still fully believe we will make it through and I think this will work in our favour because now the coaching staff and the NFF will hopefully work harder in their respective duties and see how badly we all need to get our acts together,” Sodje tells Completesportsnigeria.com.

“I still think we are good enough, but you can only stay champions in whatever you do by improving yourself, so regardless of the squad we had that won the 2013 African Cup of Nations, and no disrespect to the players, they surprised me by this result, we need some other experienced players; home-based or foreign-based to represent the country,” Sodje fumed.

Sodje believes Stephen Keshi and his players can pull the chestnut out of the fire and qualify for the tournament in Morocco.

“We are the Super Eagles and its been done before. Nigeria had always bounced back from difficult situations like these. We can still do it again but honestly I feel we must not lose any of the remaining four games in the qualifiers to achieve it. God bless Nigeria,” the younger brother of Super Eagles defender at the 2002 World Cup, Efe Sodje concludes.

Nigeria’s next game in the 2015 AFCON qualifiers is an away game against Sudan on October 11th. They will play same back home in Nigeria four days later.

  • Please Oga keshi, what is going on with our super eagle this day, it is that they tired or a tactical error. Makes all this corrected before things turn out of hand. Super Eagles! Eagles always high.

Sack Keshi now and allow an ex-player whom is reasonable to handle the team before Mr ke-shit finally distroys the team…We still have great existing players like Obafemi martins, Ikechukwu Uche (Nigeria’s highest goal scorer for last season in europe), strong-growing midfielder iheanacho, taye taiwo (still solid at left back) plus replacements for Efe ambrose whom must have eaten too much akpu just like emenike….ehn! Emenike won golden boot with just 4 goals and hes feeling like Ronaldo or Messi? Arrant NONSENSE!!! Has he checked his profile well to see that he has not scored even half of what he scored to win a local golden boot since after the AFCON 2013? Guy u better go and sharp your cuttlasses and shovel to continue mounting your ridges for yam plants since you’ve only been up with AKPU!!! You want to feel like a golden player then your impact of goals should be counted in each game you play and stop deceiving yourself with those old-school trick-dribbling style that could not pass that southy 17yrs old defender……You fucked up! Now Mikel and igiebor remember that your time is running out, past glory will not save you from being axed from the team, two of you were the ones distributing the pills of laziness on the field of play……..while watching the both of you, i see beasts of no nation, not even a nigerian act, drive and creativity…..you played like you were hired to represent this country without being fully paid as bargained……no shots at goal from any of you??? DISGRACEFUL!!! OGHENEME-BIKOR! SHUUU!!! iheanacho can replace the two of you that i saw strolling and resting in most time of the game last night…..you sucked! oh yes you dont expect praises from such performance when you could recall the last score from our game with same side. no matter how they improve, we are the giants and can bend them at anytime of play…….Thumbs up to our GOALIE EJIDE! he played with all his heart!!! keshit must apologize to those players we ought to have in our team that could have turned around the system of our game…….. yeye pride!

Well! What ever u people think, for me I think Mikel has tried his best during his time. For now he is no more in form so they should just evacuate him from the team rather than allow him retard our ball for us. As for Emenike and Ambrose, we may manage them, but they need subs too cause they aint helping matters. Keshi should also try and get replacements for them. Allowing such players to play for complete 90 minutes shows a default in his own part
