Nigeria's quest to win the 2016 African Nations Championship will no be an easy task, warns Enyimba midfielder, Kingsley Sokari.
The Eagles are grouped alongside Tunisia, Guinea and Niger for the tournament for players in their domestic leagues on the continent.
Sokari who was recently dropped from the U-23 Eagles team preparing for the CAF U-23 Cup of Nations to be held in Senegal spoke to Completesportsnigeria.com on Nigeria's chances to lift the trophy in Rwanda.
He said: "The tournament in Rwanda will not be an easy one. We (Super Eagles) are in a very tough group.
"Tunisia have a very strong league, as competitive as what you will find here in Nigeria or other big leagues in Africa. Everyone knows I would have been playing there. Guinea also have a good team. We cannot also rule out Niger springing some surprises at the tournament because the so-called 'minnows' can spoil things for teams."
Speaking further on the subject of underestimating the threatsof the lesser footballing nations in Africa, Sokari added: "Every game is different. As a player, what I can say is that for some teams, they could underrate a supposedly smaller opponent which is over-confidence or for some others, their poor results against teams they are expected to defeat could be as a result of poor pitches.
"We must take our opponents seriously in the tournament."
The 2016 CHAN holds between January 16 to February 7, 2016.
