–Crystal Palace keeper eyes mundia berth
Crystal Palace shot-stopper Julian Speroni has stated in clear terms that he will keep dreaming of the World Cup in Brazil until he is named in Argentina’s final squad for the Mundial.
Palace’s 34-year-old stopper has never played one international match for Argentina in his career, however there is a groundswell of opinion backing the Selhurst Park keeper to be in Alejandro Sabella’s team at Brazil 2014.
Monaco keeper Sergio Romero is currently Argentina’s number one, with Catania’s Mariano Andúja the back up.
While domestic matters are dominating Speroni’s thoughts at present, the Argentine goalkeeper is refusing to give up on his efforts to earn senior international recognition in time for this summer’s World Cup.
The 34-year-old added: “Until that final squad is named then I’m going to be dreaming.” he said.
Last Saturday, Speroni put in another quality performance against Chelsea. Speroni’s standout moment came when he made one fabulous diving save to turn aside a shot from Eden Hazard that would have brought Chelsea level.
