Tottenham Hotspur joined Manchester United and Liverpool in the next round of the UEFA Europa League after they thrashed Italian side Fiorentina 3-0 at White Hart Lane on Thursday night.
Goals from Ryan Mason in the 25th minute and another from Eric Lamela in the 63rd gave Mauricio Pochettino’s side a 2-0 lead before an own goal from Gonzaloo Rodriguez sealed Tottenham’s passage to the next round of the competition.
At the Estadio Dragao, Borussia Dortmund cruised to the next round at the expense of hosts Porto no thanks to an own goal from the legendary Iker Casillas who was in goal for the Portuguese side.
Earlier in the day, Fenerbahce reached the Europa League last 16 after the Turkish side drew the second leg 1-1 in Russia to advance 3-1 on aggregate.
Lokomotiv scored first just before half time courtesy Aleksandr Samedov but Mehmet Topal looping header tied the score late in the 83rd minute to send the Turks through to the next stage of the competition.
