By Bamidele Boluwaji:
Reading coach Jaap Stam has confirmed the club's interest in Fulham forward Sone Aluko, who the former Manchester United defender describes as "the perfect fit" for the Championship club.
Aluko is one of several names linked with a switch to Madejski Stadium, but Fulham are reportedly ready to offer the 28-year-old Nigerian a fresh deal to secure his future in West London.
“If he was here he would fit in our style of play but I don’t know if we can agree a deal," Stam told the Reading Chronicle.
“I know his name has been mentioned, we would be very interested in bringing a player like him in, but I don’t know if it can happen.
“It’s how the market is.
“Teams are paying a lot of money to get players in and because of that other teams are demanding more money.
“Players are asking for big salaries so it’s difficult to get players in.
“I know we have been in talks with certain players in certain positions.”
If the Nigerian is willing to leave, Fulham would demand a big transfer fee to discourage Aluko from leaving Craven Cottage.
