Sturridge Out For 6 Weeks!

Sturridge Out For 6 Weeks!

Liverpool striker Daniel Sturridge will remain on the sidelines after the club confirmed he has suffered a fresh thigh injury.

Sturridge had a scan on the injury he suffered in training earlier this week and reports suggest he could be out until the New Year.

The 25-year-old has been sidelined since suffering a thigh injury while playing for England in their 1-0 win over Norway on September 3.

He has played in only three Premier League games this season, scoring his only goal in Liverpool’s 2-1 opening day win over Southampton.

Sturridge returned to training after the initial injury, only to suffer a calf problem, but he had been in line to return against Crystal Palace on Sunday until the most recent setback.

“Liverpool Football Club today confirmed scans have revealed Daniel Sturridge has sustained a new thigh injury,” said a brief statement from the club.

“The player will remain unavailable for selection but will be monitored and assessed during his recovery.”

Sturridge’s absence puts added pressure on summer signings Mario Balotelli and Rickie Lambert who, along with fellow forward Fabio Borini, have yet to score a Premier League goal this season.

Liverpool have made a stuttering start to the campaign and go into Sunday’s game in 11th place as well as struggling in the Champions League.
