Jamie Redknapp is of the belief that Daniel Sturridge holds the key to this weekend’s Merseyside derby.
Redkapp’s former club Liverpool take on arch rivals Everton at Goodison Park on Saturday and the Sky Sports pundit suggests returning striker Sturridge can help give captain Steven Gerrard a fine Merseyside send-off in what will be his final appearances against the Toffees.
“Of course, he’s (Rodgers) got the dilemma of whether or not he should start his striker today but I think he’s got to go for it,” Redknapp wrote in his pre-game analysis for Sky.
He added: “If Sturridge starts, I reckon Liverpool will win a tight game by one goal. These games are always tough to call but I reckon Liverpool will just nick it.
“And that will be a fine way for Steven Gerrard to end his Merseyside derby days.”
Sturridge came off the bench in the 2-0 win over West Ham United last weekend, marking his first appearances since late August with a goal.
