Luis Suarez marked his 100th cap by scoring the winner as Uruguay booked their place in the second round of the Russia 2018 FIFA World Cup with a drab 1-0 win against Saudi Arabia at the Rostov Arena on Wednesday.
La Celeste and Russia booked their passage from Group A into the round of 16 with a game to spare, while Egypt and Saudi Arabia are out of the competition after two consecutive defeats.
Uruguay struggled to get going in the game especially in the first half which was dominated by the Saudi Arabia.
Suarez fired home the winning goal in the 24th minute to celebrate his century of caps.
A Carlos Sanchez corner from the left was flapped at by Mohammed Al Owais with Suarez tapping the ball home for his 52nd international goal.
