HOW GOOD IS SUPER EAGLE’S BACKLINE AGAINST QUALITY ATTACKERS.

Super Eagle’s defence is the next problematic department of the National Team after goalkeeping.
Austin Ejide’s invitation will settle the Goalkeeping Concerns.
We will give kudos to Coach Gernot Rohr for a fantastic job done so far to close the leaking rare. However, we all are aware that the defence still doesn’t have enough quality as we would expect to see in its lead-up to Russia 2018.
Some tired & old legs can’t match the pace required to stop opposing attackers.
We must be devoid of all prejudices & favouritism if we must present the best players.
Should there be favouritism, then we go no where.
Let there be no FEDERAL CHARACTER in selection.
We have seen Uwa Echeijele in his best form for Super Eagles, but right now, he is a shadow of what he used to be. He should give way for others to come in.
German born Felix Uduakhi, Kelvin Akpoguma, Torunarigha, et al, & Ehizebhua are Nigerians of foreign descent who are also qualified to play for Eagles by parentage.
It will be good bringing in one or two of these players to fortify the Eagles shaky back-four, as well as provide options for other positions.
The solid displays of Bryan Idowu, Tyrone Ebuehi, Troost-Ekong, Awaziem, Balogun & Aina cannot go unnoticed, but we are still not what we should be. Our defense lacks steel & organization.
With the addition of two or three of the defenders suggested above to the Grade A friendly, we should be getting close to presenting a formidable World Cup Dream Team.
This should be everybody’s concerns in the Coaching Crew.
    Good luck, Nigeria.

Very sound insight and analysis…We just hope the suggested players will be willing to switch nationality and play for Nigeria. With Brian Idowu already committed to playing for the Super Eagles and Tyron Ebuehi and Ola Aina’s versatility (being able to play both full back positions – left and right interchangeably) I believe the SE will get more solid when they resume close camping ahead of the World Cup.
We Pray for a good outing for the Team. I aso trust the Technical Crew with GR at the helms.
I have a feeling we will do well as both the Coach and the players are equally hungry for success.

l and many Nigerians totally agreed with your opinion wholeheartedly. Thanks for your expressions.

  • @Kingmaker I can only argue less…u’ve said it all in your detailed analysis. We must truly avoid selection based on “federal character”!

  • However we must also be loyal to them that ensured we got the w/c ticket for without loyalty no organisation will stand
