Sudan 1-0 Nigeria: Super Eagles lose to Falcons of Jediane

Nigeria’s Super Eagles on Saturday evening in Khartourm lost 1-0 against Sudan in their third African Cup of Nations qualifier.

Stephen Keshi’s side have now lost two games in the qualifiers and drew the other to leave theior chances of qualifying for the 2015 African Cup of Nations in jeopardy.

The 2013 AFCON champions’s first chance came in the 10th minute of the game. Mikel Obi’s sublime pass was not converted by Nosa Igiebor.

In the 13th minute of the game, Efe Ambrose plays a speculative ball with the outside of his boot. The Eagles had a lot of the ball but the final effort from the African champions were poor.

A powerful header by unmarked Sudan striker Bakri ensured the hosts got the better of the Stephen Keshi led team in the 40th minute which ultimately was the final result.

Chelsea midfielder John Mikel Obi saw a volleyed goal in the 87th minute ruled out for offside although there had been several chances which were wasted by the Eagles.

Sunday Emmanuel Chukwuemeka blasted the ball high and wide. A golden chance wasted which summed up the evening for an Eagles side who are now walking on a tight rope and could be eliminated from the qualifying series to the 2015 African Cup of Nations.

The Eagles will host the Sudanese in the reverse leg of the fixtures on Wednesday, 15 October, at the Abuja National Stadium.

I’m not surprised with the result. Keshi failed at the Confederation Cup, Chan, World Cup and now Afcon qualifiers. I couldn’t believed that NFF can retained keshi till now. what for? Keshi is a bad leader. He won us Afcon and because of that, nobody should talk? Garba Lawal, Baba Laluko, Muti Adepoju, Ikpeba, Akpoborie talks but this EGO and Stubborn Keshi turned his ear to them. I bet you, if NFF ask Siasia or Olishe to manage this team for the return leg, I can assure you guys that Eagle will win their remaining matches but NFF itself, no nothing about the game. What a shame. Like I always said, who is going to win the battle between Keshi and Nigeria’s fans? Keshi United, where are you all, is Oga Keshi deserve to remain Eagles coach? YES OR NO. Hmm……………………………., which way forward NIGERIANS? God bless Nigeria!

When I talk dem go say I get bad belle. Sack keshi since dem no hear dem say e win nations cup. Hmmm one tactical input no dey the win of nations cup it was individual players sheer determination. In 11 games he has won one yet una say na the best coach in africa because e reach second round. In fact since nations cup win keshi has not won a friendly all. His competitive games have been narrow escapes. Now. He is doing it against sudan. They are playing bad football and losing. If e come back make una no sack am he is far below kwesi apiah who went to togo to beat them and was still sacked. My pple will say no foreign coach ghana has gone for one now. We don’t want foreign coach yet we no get better coaches wey no go allow sentiments go. Make una blame NFF for this one again but remember nFF crisis was at the peak when our under 20 girls played finals. Admit it Keshi no good

all the Pro Keshi supporters dont seem to get it.

    @leonard, @Marsh, @Kola,us, @chuks, @Bello Abdul-Rahman, @Cambiaso, @Saint Palmer

You guys are too sentimental in your support for Keshi. Yes Keshi won the African Cup and we respect him for that. That AFCON victory is almost 2 years ago. Nigeria has won only 1 out of 12 Games since November 2013. Our only win against Bosnia was a controversial win. This Loss in Sudan has always been coming. Nothing has changed since our first 2 games of the AFCON qualifiers. Little or no goals, No creativity, very few chances, the team cannot play a cohesive passing game, the Midfield is not solid enough , the opposing goalkeeper is not being troubled. The wrong players being invited. ARE YOU GUYS SO BLIND TO SEE FOR YOURSELVES THAT THE SUPER EAGLES ARE GOING IN THE WRONG DIRECTION?

A coach should be judged by what he is doing today and not 12 months ago or 2 years ago. The players Keshi invited do not have the quality to solve the problems of the super eagles. Any objective observer knows these players dont have the quality. Keshi’s questionable decisions and poor results have sealed his fate.

I have said it repeatedly since we played Congo. I love Keshi but he MUST GO, and he will go.

    pls sack keshi now!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I said it before that they all make noise before each game is played, but always come out fumbling. Thanks Keshi for all you did, even for Coaching the team with out a new contract. Now its time to give Oliseh the job or Siasia another chance.

  • Naijaking 4 years ago

NFL should stop prolonging our agony by sentimentaly keeping our “HERO” on the job and killing every chance we have of qualifying. Keshi has proven that he has no business being eagles coach, they should quickly inform him that the deal is no longer on the table so he can start looking elsewhere for another employment.

I have said this several times without number that Keshi don’t know anything about coaching he just won nation cup with collective efforts Eagles didn’t play any good game since Keshi took over we are just struggle and it is a pity to see our Eagles begin struggling with Sudan who Congo and South Africa beat home and away every time he Keshi will give excuse that he is still build team since 2012 he can’t yet build a team that Nigerian can proud of, he win only one match out of 12 matches, Keshi must go and NFF should called Siasia back or Oliseh to take over Eagles. We can’t continue to be watching heart attack football enough is enough. God bless Nigeria !!!!!!!

  • Stunt101 4 years ago

Keshi is now turning into a deadly virus like Ebola to we fans with his mey suya head, how can you insist you are the best coach, winning just a match in this year?naaaaa pls leave,so that quality players will come to play for us again…..Emenike is better with Ideye,so why calling dudes that has nothing to do with SE for a crucial match….NFA please we need a cure to the EBOLA KESHI brought to our team…..#EBOLA KESHI MUST GO.

  • David 4 years ago

IT IS NOW CERTIFY THAT STEPHEN KESHI….SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIAN COACH IS A PROUD, USELESS, IRRESPONSIBLE, SENSELESS AND VISION-LESS COACH WHICH COULD NOT HANG ON THE MERE LUCK THAT GUIDED HIM TO AFCON 2013 WIN AND WORLD CUP QUALIFIER. A COACH WHO REFUSES TO INVITE THE WELL DESERVED PLAYERS INTO THE TEAM BUT FIGHT ALL THE BIG PLAYERS IS A WORTHLESS COACH AND DESERVE LOSING AND FAILING ALWAYS. COMMON SUDAN BEAT SUPER EAGLES OF NIGERIA AFTER CONSECUTIVE THREE LOSSES. PLEASE LET STEPHEN KESHI RESIGNED AS THE SUPER EAGLES HEAD COACH WITH IMMEDIATE EFFECT. SIASIA HAS LEARNT HHIS MISTAKES AND SHOULD BE CALLED BACK OR SUNDAY OLISEH. WHERE IS SUNDAY MBA, IKECHUKWU UCHE, OBAFEMI MARTINS, CHINEDU OBASI, IHEANACHO(U17), LUKMAN HARUNA. IT IS GLARING NOW THAT WE HAVE A USELESS COACH WHO SHOULD RESIGN IMMEDIATELY.

i am so surprise why the nff has not ask keshi BY NOW to pack is bags and luggage take a semi joint flight direct to the U,S,A via Sudan i [email protected] US will be at the airport to welcome him bunch of losers
sia1 did better than this criminal keshi

  • Chiffo 4 years ago

I am so happy that Keshi’s ego and vindictiveness has paid him back.
where is Haruna Lukman, Kalu uche, Ike uche, Joel Obi, Iheanacho, Ogbuke Obasi etc are these not Nigerians?
“HE who chased himself out of the boat, should not complain that the boat couldn’t contain him”

  • Chiffo 4 years ago

Why should you moderate my opinion?
    It’s mine I own it.
Vindictiveness like hatred is a self-killer.
It’s like drinking poison and hopping it kills someone else.
Keshi you have ripped what you sowed.
Good bye and and good luck, hope you learnt your lesson.

  • SIEFA 4 years ago

When keshi started having problems with some of our foreign base…..I knew the end had come for him. It so sad that this fellow never learnt his lesson, the same nonsense he did with ( Adebayor)Togo, that’s exactly what he is doing with our boys. You must be in his good book to represent or play for Nigeria. What a loser!

  • Abiodun Ademuwagun 4 years ago

I have never supported Keshi’s tactics. His success at the Nation cup was a collective efforts with the ex eagles such as Sunday Oliseh, Ikpeba, Kanu, Okocha and so on. He became very arrogant just after the competition and decided to go alone. His lack of tactics came to bare during tha CHAN competition. Though we came third, it was not because of Keshi. The guys actually played their heart out because they felt they could make the senior team.
The World Cup team selection was a desaster, am not sure he knows what he wants or what type of competition he was going. Enough of Keshi. Me think the way forward for us is an Oliseh /Siasia combination. No foreign coach can take us anywhere now unless we are ready for the next four years to get result, but are we ready for that?
Our journalists also contributed to Keshi’s failure by not critisising him correctly. They are busy doing business by selling players from unknown league. They became scouts overnight.

  • Shamsideen 4 years ago

I said it before the game against Sudan that Keshi invited players on sentiments, now we have since the result not all players that played the match are not good we just need a coach who can give our best players a chance what is NFF waiting for please don’t allow Keshi to handle the return leg in Abuja call Sia 1 and Oliseh to help us or if not we are going down for sure end of AFCon. It has always been a customary when you sack a coach that is not doing well with a team and bring in a new coach with the same set of players the result has always been 99% positive go and check the statistics. NFF over to you please don’t waste time this our last chance to qualify for AFcon, if we don’t win the return leg then bye bye to Afcon again. God bless Nigeria

I love Keshi when he was a player but as a coach he is not good. The nations cup he won was a fluke. He lacks the required technicality and parade average players. He is also lazy in searching out for hungry and talented players. I prefer Siasia as a coach, he is more tactical and hard working manager. I advice NFF to look into the direction of Siasia or any better coach. Thanks for this opportunity to share and express my opinion.

  • Dada James 4 years ago

I am one of the staunch supporter of Keshi, but it is obvious that Nigeria may miss out in the 2015 AFCON with another ignominious display against Sudan yesterday. The NFF should act fast by beginning to look beyond Keshi to plan for the future as for the AFCON the hope is very slim.

  • bobby ogie 4 years ago

@soccerInNigeria…..I no know say u see d blind loyalty wey @kola and im gang dey giv keshi..even d disrespectful way they wey sliming siasia sef ehn? Now dey re too ashamed to comment…we already knew keshi’s plan was to sabotage eagles’ qualification 4 AFCOn 2015….amaju,pls act fast b4 keshi spoil ya job oooo

  • Nzekwe Asugha 4 years ago

From being the best coach last year to being the worst coach this year in Africa. What went wrong under such a short spell? And the answer is EGO PROBLEM. Keshi please we beg you to go. Thanks but no thanks for all you have struggled to achieve.

  • uhmmm, the egocentric and all knowing Boss have shot himself dead. He is never a good coach but a mediocre and manipulator. I will see where his stupid ego will lead him in his career. I hope the new NFF will not let him manipulate his way through so please let the big boss go for the sake of fairness and equality. So we can atleast say bye bye to Mediocrity in our Super eagle

  • kESHIMUSTGO 4 years ago

The word of God has been tested in the earth seven times, and has never been found to fail. The word of God says “Pride goeth before destruction, and an haughty spirit before a fall” (Prov 16:18).

By now, Keshi’s flamboyant rhetoric’s would have failed him. He has not been able to grant any interview. Hope he doesn’t summon the courage to tell Nigerians that he knew we were going to lose in Sudan?

Even the teachers in Nigeria would resign and become jobless if they don’t get paid for 7 months, Not to talk of not having an employment letter or contract papers. This clawless and tactless P.E. “big boss”, who been hiding under the excuse of patriotism to fool a few has finally come to the end of the road.

We saw him cry like a baby, not because he failed Nigerians, but because his manipulations has finally come to light.

There is so much that motivating players by word of mouth can do. Modern day football demands coaches who have got a third eye, and that is called tactics. Keshi should go and motivate monkeys to jump from trees one mile apart from each other, lets see how that works (even though the monkey is smart). It is all over for the arrogant hero!!!

  • KESHI HAS DONE HIS BEST WHAT HE COULD. HE CANNT GO BEYOUND HIS LIMITS. HE NOW SATURATED AND DIMINISHING. PLS LETS HIM GETS REPLACEMENT. THANKS AND GOD BLESS NIGERIA

  • omo9ja 4 years ago

I’ve warned this man called Mr. Keshi but he didn’t listen. I said it on kickoffnigeria.com that “God has sent many people to Oga Keshi to be cautioned, he and his fans worldwide failed to listened. most especially KOLA US, PHILOSPHER AND ALL THE KESHI’S UNITED. I know them well.
I’m still shaking my head for this Nation because, they hate the truth and they will never support the right thing. Keshi and Siasia made the same mistake, “EGO AND STUBBURNESS HAVE SPOILED THEIR WORK”. Any ways, the time will tell, we are watching. God bless Nigeria!
