Premier League strugglers Sunderland are reported to be interested in Nigerian forward Moses Simon who plays for Belgian top-flight club Gent.

According to thenorthenecho.co.uk, Sunderland have been monitoring Simon, 21, as they look to put plans in place for the aftermath of a successful survival push.

It is believed David Moyes plans to prioritise the improvement of Sunderland's attack and also bring down the average age of his squad.

Aside from Sunderland, Simon has been on the radar of a number of Premier League clubs for the last 12 months.

Simon joined Gent from Slovakian club AS Trencin for €1m in the 2015 January transfer window and went on to help them win the Belgian Pro League title that same year.
