–Rangers pip Heartland 1-0 in oriental derby

Sunshine Stars of Akure have gone top of the league table after defeating Shooting Stars 2-0 in week-eight of the Glo Premier League played on Sunday.
Playing in front of their home fans, Tunde Adeniji opened the scoring for the Akure side in the 60th minute before Dele Olorundare sealed the win seven minutes later.
Sunshine are now on 16 points after eight rounds of matches played.
In the Oriental derby that was decided inside the Nnamdi Azikiwe Stadium, Enugu, Rangers pipped Heartland 1-0. The only goal of the game came off the boot of Onoriode Odah in the 62nd minute.
At the Sani Abacha Stadium, Kano, defending champions Kano Pillars beat Sharks 2-0, with goals from Ezekiel Mba and Adamu Hassan in the 50th and 83rd minute respectively.
And in Aba, Enyimba were surprisingly held to a 0-0 draw by Giwa FC.
In other results, Wikki Tourists played a 0-0 draw away to Akwa United, Warri Wolves thrashed Nassarawa 4-1, Bayelsa played 2-2 at home against Dolphins, Gabros forced Taraba to a 3-3 draw, Lobi and El-Kanemi ended their game goalless, while Abia Warriors saw off Kwara United 2-0.
