Rivers United head coach Stanley Eguma refused to criticise his players following their 2-0 defeat against Nigeria Professional Football League champions Enugu Rangers in their opening fixture in the Super Four competition, reports Completesportsnigeria.com.
The Pride of Rivers frustrated their hosts in the first half but caved in after the break with Chisom Egbuchulam scoring a brace in the encounter.
Eguma remained upbeat that his charges will do well in their remaining two games in the competition.
"Our team is still a work in progress and their is no need to be sad with our loss to Rangers," Eguma stated in a chat with Completesportsnigeria.com after the game.
"We are still moulding the team together after bringing in some new faces and things will get better for us in subsequent games.
" Now, we will focus on the next game against FC Ifeanyiubah which will equally be another tough encounter and hope pick our first win of the competition."
