Super Eagles To Play Poland Friendly, Get New Trainer For World Cup

By Adeboye Amosu:
The Super Eagles of Nigeria will face Poland in a pre-World Cup friendly match on March 23, 2018, according to reports.

The friendly between the Super Eagles and their Polish counterparts will hold in Wroclaw or the Silesian Stadium in Chorzów.
The three-time African champions have been drawn in Group D along with Argentina, Croatia and Iceland for the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and the game against the Poles will be used to test their strategy ahead of the tournament.
Poland on the hand are in the same group with another African team Senegal along with Colombia and Japan.
“We will play Poland at home on March 23rd,” Super Eagles head coach Gernot Rohr was quoted on French website Football365.fr.
“We are looking for a second opponent in Europe for another FIFA date in the spring.”
Rohr also stated that a camping site has been picked to aid the Super Eagles’ preparations for the competition.

“We chose a base camp that we visited in southern Russia, between Sochi and Volgograd, in the countryside, in a region of mineral and spa baths. We will be far from everything, with opportunities for care and excellent conditions of recovery between games. At 500 meters altitude, it will not be too hot,” he added.

“Physically, we will be ready. We will take a second physical trainer, in this case Bernard Ginès, I had in my staff in Nice, between 2002 and 2005. We will receive FieldWiz, which are GPS to work better in detail.
“We will have to progress in the scouting of our own players so as not to make mistakes in  the list of 30, then that of 23. We will strengthen the scouting team.”

when Rohr arrived I had my doubts. But today he has changed all that. Apart from being a good coach I can see he wants to do something special with the Super Eagles……???…..waiting to know what.

  • Good choice for good team!!

  • Eastern country like croatia, they playing some same play..good appointment.

  • We need so an south american team for the 27 march and nordic team like sweden, denmark, who’s playing like iceland..

  • Classically top grade match adding to that of England vs Nigeria match. Compared to all the past NFF board, this Amaju led NFF is something else. The others are just “oji” and brainless. Can any one stop this NFF as it is today from going for a second term?

I rejoice at the synergy between Rohr, the NFF, and SE players. Everybody is itching to get into the history books. Playing Poland will prepare us for Croatia. Let’s plan a friendly with a reputable opponent in the South American block, maybe Chile.

  • Poland a good test…….lewandoski in that team. Our defense will be tested
