Completesportsnigeria.com’s ADEBOYE AMOSU appraises the performance of Super Eagles players in the 0-0 draw with the Cranes of Uganda in Tuesday’s international friendly encounter at the Stephen Keshi Stadium, Asaba.
DANIEL AKPEYI 6/10
The Chippa United of South Africa goalkeeper was virtually on holiday in the game as the Ugandans didn’t offer much in attack against the Super Eagles.
BRYAN IDOWU 6/10
Deployed as a right-back for the first time in a Super Eagles shirt. Idowu was solid defensively but didn’t contribute much to the Super Eagles’ attacking play.
SEMI AJAYI 7/10
Made two important interceptions that would have resulted into goals. The centre-back didn’t do his chances of future call-ups any harm.
JOHN OGU 6/10
Started the game as a centre-back before been moved into midfield in the second half and gave a solid display all through.
JAMILU COLLINS 7/10
Collins is gradually making the Super Eagles’ left-back position his own. He posted another impressive display. The Paderbon of Germany defender kept Uganda captain, Emmanuel Okwi quiet for most of the game.
OGHENEKARO ETEBO 6/10
Etebo was substituted after the break, making way for William Troost-Ekong. Combined effectively with the duo of Mikel Agu and Alex Iwobi in midfield.
MIKEL AGU 7/10
Got the chance to stake claim for a shirt in the team after missing out on a place in the squad to the 2018 FIFA World Cup in Russia and gave a spirited display in the encounter. He was unlucky not to score the winning goal nine minutes from time.
ALEX IWOBI 7/10
Gave an improved performance from Saturday’s game against the Bafana Bafana of South Africa. He was substituted late on by Henry Onyekuru.
SAMUEL CHUKWUEZE 8/10
A superb performance from the Villarreal forward who made his international debut for the Super Eagles in the game. He was a thorn in the flesh of the Ugandans despite playing only one half.
AHMED MUSA 6/10
The stand-in captain didn’t make much impact in the game as expected. He was replaced by Moses Simon in the second half.
VICTOR OSIMHEN 5/10
Toiled hard to impress without much success. Missed a good chance to score the game’s opening goal from a Samuel Chukwueze corner kick in the first half.
SAMUEL KALU 6/10
A lively performance from the Bordeaux of France man who caused problems for the Ugandans following his half-time introduction for the lively Samuel Chukwueze.
ISAAC SUCCESS 5/10
Failed to much impact following his introduction for the ineffective Victor Osimhen after the break.
WILLIAM TROOST-EKONG 6/10
Brought more solidity to the Super Eagles defence after coming in for Oghenekaro Etebo.
MOSES SIMON 5/10
Made few incursions into the opposition defence after his introduction for Ahmed Musa but soon fizzled out.
HENRY ONYEKURU 4/10
The Galatasary of Turkey forward was largely anonymous in the nine minutes he spent on the pitch.
Not Rated. He came in as a late replacement for John Ogu
