  • are we still thinking of playing this friendly game with DRC Congo, I don’t mean to be inhumane, but the ebola outbreak is a serious concern , in my opinion, the game should be cancelled for now ..

So we are 47th out of 210 or so FIFA affiliated nations. This is unfair. Only 32 nations qualify for the World Cup abi. This mean to say these are the best in the world. These 32. I think so. This is the point. FIFA should reset this ranking thing every 4 years. The 32 qualifying teams should occupy the first 32 positions and others can follow. Nigeria should be at about 28 position if this my well thought out calculation is followed. Amaju Pinnick should pass it across to infantino. You know, Infantino love sharp ideas. At least this will give the World Cup goers that pride of place like ‘we are playing and you are watching us’ feel good thing. Sometimes I ask the question- how many teams in the 1-46 bracket are not coming to Russia? Italy, Cameroon, Holland, Ghana, South Africa, Ivory Coast, USA, Greece, and others. These were smarting occupying FIFA ranking but when it matters most, they woefully failed. So what is the point running to take front seat and when the food is served, you were overlooked. If Nigeria can be occupying 100 or 200 or whatever position but to be at any World Cup, let it be as long as no one is fined some money. Abi how you see am my people.

@Zeha, does it mean because of Ebola, no one should get out of the country? Congo DR is about 73000000 people including footballers. Is it all of them that has it? Maybe only 30 and they are quarantined now. So the match should go ahead. If it will be a risk, even Congo DR will tell us that they are not coming. I can understand your fear but people are on top of the matter. Are we a nation of panickers?

  • Lilke i said b4 about 90 percent of dr congo team are foreign nationals so it won’t b a problem.

My dear FIFA, how can l thank you for leaving Nigeria on the 47th position. Nigeria has been rated the weakest team in the group, even lowly Iceland is rated above Nigeria – FIFA thanks a million !

My people, l want you to know that the Super Eagles is more dangerous as an underdog. Right now, all eyes are on the “big teams and big names” and analysts are underrating the Super Eagles. We should be happy for this underdog is going to bit them hard and become a top dog. They are all going to be shocked !

l see the Super Eagles (these young supermen) topping their group :

    Croatia 1 – Nigeria 2; Iceland – 0 Nigeria 2; Argentina 1 – Nigeria 1…

    Second round Nigeria 3 – Australia 1,…

Next stage Spain – Nigeria = Full time + Extra time (Draw) /// Penalty shootout…. Nigeria wins.

From then onwards, the world will know that Nigeria means Business. Watch out !

Once again, l say, thank you very much FIFA !!!

…Just like what happened in 1994 when nobody gave Nigeria a scintilla of a chance in a group including Bulgaria and Greece that were highly rated, but our “unknown team” spearheaded by the indomitable Rashidi Yekini went ahead and destroyed them all.

History is going to be repeated again next month in Russia…

@Tony, what do you mean that 90% of the Congo DR players are foreigners? Maybe you mean to say 90% of the players are foreign based? Are they mercenaries? I know Congo DR has functioning league. Explain more or…….. I will check later.

  • Go Eagles Go 6 months ago

@Tony you are right o. More than 90% of their players are foreign based just like Nigeria. Some are in England, Turkey, Switzerland, Morocco, Angola, Saudi Arabia, Portugal, Russia. They are all Congolese but based outside the country. So no fear of Ebola and they will give the Super Eagles a tough fight. This is interesting indeed.

Ehi, Amen and Amen. Glory be to Our Heavenly Father.

  • Every time i read comments of football fans on Nigeria’s World Cup chances I simply marvel..
The super eagles is an average team waiting to be slaughtered in Russia.
It truly beats the imagination that our people don’t read and follow football development, because if they do it should dawn on them that Gernot Rohr doesn’t have a tested team to withstand the group stage battle talkless of qualifying from it.
The excitement that Nigeria will win the world cup or do well in Russia is misplaced and carried too far.
A simple and logical way of looking at it is to judge the team department by department to evaluate its strengths & weaknesses.
First, Nigeria does not have a keeper.
Going to Russia without an experienced & trusted goalkeeper is suicidal.
Gernot Rohr has been bemoaning the absence of Carl Ikweme, but he bluntly refused to substitute him wit other experienced keepers.
Nigeria will be beaten blue, black and white. I hate to imagine this would happen to our respected and darlyn team.
The defence is shaky if Elderson Echiejile is selected as we assume he would as first choice LB.
Abdulahi Shehu lacks the quality to mark out top strikers, but he is Rohr’s best RB.
Attacking options, Ighalo, Musa as best strikers are far below par when compared with their counterpacts in Iceland, Croatia and Argentina.
    The Coach has failed us.
U can keep your views, no need to debate it, let us wait, it’s just next month.
But a wise Coach can call up quality options, it is not too late or face the embarrassment looming ahead.
