2012 champions of the Lagos state chapter of the Sport Writers Association of Nigeria (SWAN) Cup, Complete Sports have been drawn in group B of the preliminary round of this year’s edition with Voice of Nigeria and The Nation newspaper.
Other teams in the group, according to the draws made at the SWAN secretariat on Tuesday, are Pooja Media, and radio station 104.7 SMA.
It will be recalled that The Nation newspaper barely escaped with a 2-2 draw when both sides met in a friendly exhibition match to mark the 11th year anniversary of the company on July 29th but Complete Sports captain Wale Ajose has declared Operation No Mercy on the boys from Fatai Atere Way.
“Last time they ran away with a 2-2 draw after we had outplayed them but we didn’t mind because it was their anniversary and it won’t be charitable if we beat them on their birthday. However, this is a different ball game and they have been grouped with us so that we can finish what we started last time out. We won’t show them mercy on Matchday,” Ajose declared.
In the other groups, Sports Vision, Inspiration FM, Crest News, Silverbird TV and Sportsville will do battle for the two quarter-final tickets in Group A.
Group C has New Telegraph, Goal.com, Else, Community Watch, FRCN and Channels while Group D will have TVC, Unilag, Top radio, Cool FM, and the Sun Newspaper.
The football competition is part of the annual SWAN Week and runs from Friday 11th to 18th of August, 2017.
