Taribo: I’m Better Than Any Nigerian Coach

–Ex-Eagles defender blasts

Former Super Eagles defender Taribo West has made an audacious claim of being better all Nigeria coaches, insisting he will perform much better if appointed to manage the national team.

West is not known to have acquired the required coaching papers, this he was quick to admit as launch a scathing attack on the managers of Nigerian football for ignoring retired footballers in the administration of the game.

“I’m not a coach. I don’t have coaching papers or the qualities in me. But if given the opportunity, I’ll do much better than a whole lot of coaches in this country”, West fired when asked if he was ready for a national coaching job and if he would accept one if offered to him by NFF.

Admitting he was yet to undergo a coaching course, he tried to explain why he believes he will do a better job than his counterparts.

“In my career, I played under the best coaches and best players in the World. During this period I acquired a lot of experience and I learned a lot that I can give back to the younger generation”.

The Atlanta 1996 Olympic Games Soccer gold medalist lamented Super Eagles inability to qualify for the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations holding in Equatorial Guinea in January, the former Inter Milan of Italy defense stalwart said it was a disappointment not only for himself but to the Africa and global football fraternity.

“A lot of people are disappointed, not just Taribo West alone, the football World is disappointed, Africa is disappointed, everybody is disappointed that Nigeria, that the Super Eagles are not going to the Nations Cup.

“That we’ll not defend the AFCON we won just last year. But all the same, football is black and white, sometimes it goes well for you, other times it doesn’t.
