Nigeria men’s volleyball team on Monday raised hope of a possible qualification for the semi-finals of the event at the on-going Congo Brazzaville All Africa Games 2015.
After a disappointing 3-1 loss to hosts Congo on Saturday, the Nigerians bounced back with a comprehensive 3-0 battering of Southern African side, Mozambique.
The group A clash at Masamba brings two the number of wins by the Team Nigeria side and they would need an outright win in their next game on Wednesday to advance to the semi-finals.
Ejeh Matthew, who plays professional volleyball in Dubai, told completesportsnigeria.com after the game that their backs are pushed to the wall and as a result will come out in full force against Egypt on Wednesday.
“We know at this stage our fate is supremely in our own hands. It’s either victory against Egypt or we kiss the 2015 All Africa Games goodbye.
“So we have to come out in full force, knowing fully well that the outcome will determine our prospect of progressing further in the event,” Matthew said.
