Track and Field coaches across Nigeria will on Monday, May 22 conduct election to produce their representative in the incoming board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria, AFN, reports Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
According to a statement released by scribe of the Track and Field Coaches Association of Nigeria (TAFCAN), coach Stephen Nuhu and made available to Completesportsnigeria.com, the coaches’ election will hold at the Conference Hall of the National Stadium, Package 'A' Abuja.
Nuhu stated the coaches are excited to be given a slot in the incoming AFN board and are ready to conduct a credible poll that would help them select a good representative.
“We are ready for our election billed for next week in Abuja. We want to have a credible representative in the next AFN board so we want a transparent process free of rancour or any misgivings,” Nuhu said in the statement.
The Jos-based coach, famous for his exploits in the long-distance races, informed that a memo has been sent out to notify all TAFCAN members that a provision has now been made for coaches to have one (1) representative on the next Board of Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
Consequently, the Executive Committee of TAFCAN and the National Association of Athletics Officials (NAATO) have jointly fixed Monday (May 22) to elect its representative.
The release stated that every State Chapter is requested to send one coach who will participate in the election process to produce a credible member on the Board.
The TAFCAN secretary warned that all directives outside the one from the secretariat should be disregarded.
The statement made available to the sporting media further informed that the National Association of Women In Sports (NAWIS) has conducted their election to pick their representative in the new board of the Athletics Federation of Nigeria.
