Complete Sports can exclusively report that top Turkish clubsides are queuing up to ensure former Schalke 04 star puts pen to paper ahead of the new soccer season.
A top Turkish agent revealed that some of the country’s big clubs have been asking for facts about the Nigerian who is currently in the USA to seek lasting solution to his shin splint injury.
“I have been getting several calls on the player. You know he has played for top clubs, and he just left Schalke04 as a free agent, and that will be a good one for the clubs here.
Someone from Nigeria gave me his number, but we are trying to get something good for a player of his calibre. I can’t really say what will happen next,” he said.
Obasi was told by his German club Schalke 04, that his contract which expired at the end of the current season, will not be renewed. The forward joined the Bundesliga outfit on loan in December 2011 and later made his move permanent after impressing the club.
But after struggling to get a first team shirt this season, the club is ready to let him go at the end of the season, German newspaper, Bild, reported.
The Super Eagles striker and four other Schalke 04 players; Trainquillo Barnetta, Christian Fuchs, Felipe Santana and Christian Clemens are to be disposed by the next transfer window.
