By James Agberebi: Rio 2016 Olympic Games bronze medal winner, Azubuike Okechukwu, has expressed his delight that his club, Yeni Malatyaspor, ended the first part of the Turkish top flight on a positive note after pipping home side, Kayserispor, 1-0 in a league clash on Sunday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.
A 45th minute goal by Khalid Boutaib, secured the win for Malatyaspor – their first back-to-back win of the season in the league.
The win took Malatyaspor to 10th on 22 points in the 18-team league table.
Okechukwu was in action for Malatyaspor and played for 90 minute in the game.
In his resction, Okechukwu thanked Malatyaspor for their role in making the win against Kayserispor possible.
“What a way to end the first round. Thank God for the win and to the traveling fans, much love,” Okechukwu wrote on his Twitter handle.
The game was Okechukwu’s 13th appearance for Malatyaspor in the league.
