U-17 AFCON Qualifiers: Golden Eaglets Beat Niger, Face Ghana In Final

By Adeboye Amosu:

Nigeria will face perennial rivals Ghana in the final of the WAFU B 2019 U-17 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying tournament following a 2-1 win against hosts Niger in their semi-final clash at the Seyni Koutnche Stadium, Niamey on Wednesday, Completesportsnigeria.com reports.

The Golden Eaglets who dominated the game right from the start took the lead two minutes before the break through Akin Amoo who tapped in from close range after he was teed up by Mohammed Ibrahim.

Man-of-the match, Olakunle Olusegun doubled Nigeria’s lead two minutes before the half hour mark curling in a brilliant effort from the edge of the box.

The hosts pulled a goal back on the dot of 90 minutes but were unable to find the equaliser.

It was the second victory of the competition for Manu Garba’s charges who lost 3-2 to already eliminated Burkina Faso in their first game.

Earlier, 10-man Black Starlets of Ghana rallied from a goal down to beat Cote d’lvoire 2-1 and booked their spot in the final.

The final will be played on Saturday at the Seyni Koutnche Stadium, Niamey.

The winner of the competition will qualify for the 2019 CAF U-17 Africa Cup of Nations in Tanzania.

Watch yourself Ubah. Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones.

419 country. They managed to beat Liberia that paraded two retired footballers and they began to jubilate like they won the world cup.

By the way, why didn’t your president play in that match? The Liberian president was on the pitch.

  • Imagine! These two countries have won the U17 world cup about 8-10 times between them. Why should you separate them? It’s very obvious that these two countries are the best in Africa. At least they should have given this us 2 slots in this competition. Could you believe that these 2 countries played in the final of 1993 U17 world cup? South America can never separate Argentina and Brazil! NEVER!!! Both of them will rather go. I knew it before the tournament that Ghana and Nigeria will play in this final and one of them will qualify, that’s what stupid CAF want anyway!

On point, @Ade. Thinking loud too. Their meeting should be in the final of U-17 AFCON, not a regional competition , where one would have to go. CAF and their meaningless arrangements

    • It’s a shame! I think CAF just want North Africans and South Africans a chance. We all know that West Africans would dominate if it were a level playing ground.

I agree with you CAF just want to mess Africa up at the world cup with this zoning, it doesnt make any sense.

Congrat lads, you made your fatherland proud. Keep up the good team spirit with clear focus on the main price.

Ade, you are the buffoon! I laughed when I read your comments and those of your fellow Super Chicken fans. You are all afraid! Your over aged boys will see fire at the finals.

    • Lol… you are not making sense Ghana boy, Liberian president was a former world class player and the best till date.. Nigerian president has never kicked a ball professionally… Tell me who wouldn’t be happy to score against a president of a country and one of African best at that..

Ghana boy u better go and repair your federation have even forgotten our football fedration have been appointed to help u guys settle it is it that zovr black stars dat lost to kenya

  • Mr. Ghana boy, what are you doing here? Immediately you heard your team is facing Nigeria in the final, you started pissing in your pants and searching the Internet for a Nigerian sports site where you could try to wage a psychological warfare and betray your inner fears? Why not worry about your senior team that was beaten by Kenya last Saturday. Not 10,000 km marathon or other long distance race, Football!

That can never happen to Nigeria. We beat countries like Kenya home and away. On a lucky day or when Nigeria fields an experimental under age side, they could get lucky with a draw or similar. But that’s where it ends.

  • i advice my compatriots to ignore this so call Ghana must go boy to his self delusion, that is how he will continue living in the world of fantasy when our golden boys will use goals to spell (charcoal young stars) or whatever they call themselves, i beg all our national team fans on behalve of Ghana must go boy, because he knew not what he was writting. He may be under the influence of weed when he was writting this rubbish or over consumption of bonse had taken away his sense of reasoning. God bless Nigeria and her people.

Anyone coming on a public platform, insulting a national symbol shouldn’t be given any attention. That’s an unprovoked attack and we should all be wise enough to know that @ghana boy deliberately did it to curry attention. We shouldn’t give him. He doesn’t deserve it.
