Golden Eaglets coach, Emmanuel Amuneke, has described the FIFA U-17 World Cup draw which pitted his team against Chile, Croatia and USA, as a favourable one, Completesportsnigeria.com.
Reacting to the draw which was held in the early hours of Friday, Amuneke told Completesportsnigeria.com that the team’s focus now will be their first game against USA.
“For me, I think the draw is a welcome development. If you want to be a champion, then be ready to face any team.
“Thank God it has come and gone, now we will have to continue our preparation and focus on the first game which is against the USA because in every competition, the first game is always important.
“So like I said, we just have to intensify our preparation, to make sure we give Nigeria a very good representation,” Amuneke said.
The former Super Eagles player, also played down the thought of being grouped along with with the host, Chile.
“They (Chile) are a very good side. As host, they will get the home support. But it’s now left for us to show what we can do as a team against them.”
The Golden Eaglets are the defending champions after they lifted the last edition in the United Arab Emirates.
