–Eagles star yet to make euro move
Uche Uchebo who had hoped to use the World Cup in Brazil as a shop window for a big move in Europe is still holed up in Enugu with rumours he could now be on his way to Russia.
The giant forward, who was nicknamed ‘Flavour’ after a lookalike music star by his teammates at the World Cup, was a highly controversial selection by coach Stephen Keshi for Brazil 2014.
The 24-year-old former Enugu Rangers star scored seven goals in 55 appearances at Cercle Brugge since he moved there in 2012 from Dutch club VVV Venlo.
However, he is not listed by the Belgian club for the new season and it is now believed his two-year contract there was not extended.
“Uchebo is still in Enugu since after the World Cup, he has yet to return to Europe,” a top source informed AfricanFootball.com
“He is training with the Enugu All-Stars.”
“What we are hearing is that he may now move to Russia, but nothing has really been confirmed.”
He has so far rebuffed media interviews.
He scored a goal against Scotland in a pre-World Cup game in London bfore he was picked for Brazil 2014, where he enjoyed 24 minutes of action in a 3-2 loss to Argentina.
He famously attended trials at Stoke City and Scottish champions Celtic.
