Arsenal’s chance of progressing into the Champions League round of 16 was dealt a huge blow following their 5-1 loss to Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena on Wednesday.
Robert Lewandoski put Bayern ahead in the 10th minute after beating the offside trap to head past a stranded Petr Cech.
Thomas Mueller made it 2-0 with a left-foot strike after the Arsenal defence failed to clear their lines.
With a minute left in the first half, David Alaba scored the third goal with a long range left-foot strike.
Substitute Arjen Robben got on the score sheet on 55 minutes after an assist from Alaba.
Olivier Giroud scored for Arsenal with a bicycle kick in the 69th minute.
Giroud later came off for Alex Iwobi with five minutes left.
And in the 89th minute, Mueller bagged his second and Bayern’s fifth through a counter-attack.
To worsen matters for the Gunners, Olympiacos came from behind to defeat Dinamo Belgrade 2-1 to open a six point gap over the L9ndon side.
Arsenal remain bottom of the table with three points from four games.
At Stamford Bridge, Chelsea put their domestic woes aside as they beat Dynamo Kyiv 2-1.
The Blues went in front in the 34th minute after Alexander Dragovic diverted a cross into his own net.
Dragovic atoned for his error when he drew Kyiv level.
And with seven minutes left, Willian restored Chelsea’s lead with a superb free-kick.
