Pep Guardiola will return to Spain to face his old club as Manchester City were drawn against Barcelona in Group C in the UEFA Champions League draw held in Monaco on Thursday.
Aside from Barcelona, Manchester City will face Bayern Monchengladbach and Scottish champions Celtic.
Arsenal will battle PSG, Basel and Ludogorets for the top two slots in Group A.
Premier League champions Leicester will begin their debut Champions League campaign in Group G with FC Porto, Club Brugge and Copenhagen.
Last season’s losing finalists Atletico Madrid will rekindle their rivalry with Bayern Munich as both teams were drawn in Group D.
Russian side Rostov and Dutch champions PSV are also in group D.
Defending champions, Real Madrid were drawn in Group F alongside Dortmund, Sporting Lisbon and Legia Warzawa.
