Barcelona defeated Arsenal 2-0 thanks to a Lionel Messi double in the first leg second round of the UEFA Champions League at the Emirates on Tuesday night.
Messi opened the scoring on 71 minutes off a counter.
In the 78th minute, Suarez came face-to-face with Cech but his strike came off the post.
Messi made it 2-0 from the penalty spot in the 83 minutes after Mathieu Flamini hacked down Messi.
Arsenal came close to scoring in the eighth minute but Aaron Ramsey’s weak shot off a Mezut Ozil pull back was blocked by Gerard Pique.
Ivan Rakitic tried a long range shot but it came off an Arsenal player and went off for a corner.
Alex Oxlade Chamberlain almost gave Arsenal the lead on 23 minutes when Hector Bellerin’s deflected shot fell to him but his strike was gathered by Ter Stegen.
In the 31st minute, Lionel Messi met a Neymar cross with his head which went over the bar.
Barcelona had a free-kick on the edge of Arsenal’s 18-yard box but Messi hit the shot against the wall.
Nacho Monreal made a timely clearance in the 45th minute after Petr Cech made a save from Suarez.
And in the final minute of the first half, a cutback by Dani Alves was headed inches wide by Luiz Suarez.
Neymar was put through on goal in the 49th minute but Cech made a fine save.
Neymar had an opportunity in the 55th minute but Per Mertesacker made a block.
Ter stegen made a brilliant one hand save off a Giroud header in the 60th minute.
Suarez had a chance in the 66th minute but his shot went across goal.
Cech was on hand to make a point blank save off a Neymar header in the 91st minute.
